I just wanted to post and thank everyone here so much for all the advice you've given me since Starbuck was diagnosed in August. I really believe she would have gotten into remission.

Unfortunately it's probably not going to happen. Over the weekend she developed a big lump on her jaw. Last week I took her to the vet because she seemed in discomfort chewing, but the vet didn't see anything. The lump popped up over 6 days and looks like really aggressive bone cancer. We got a biopsy and are going to get our surgical options on Wednesday, but it's not looking good. If it's one type of cancer, surgery is a possibility, and if it's another, apparently it wouldn't be worth it. If it turns out surgery is not an option, she has a couple of weeks to a month left. (It's in her mouth and hurting her.)

If we don't get good news on Wednesday, I would love to share any of my leftover diabetes supplies with people here, just to give back.

Many prayers...FWIW, my Trixie (now GA) had hard bumps on her jaw, too, that ultimately seemed to be caused by infection - they disappeared with ABs. (She couldn't have dental surgery due to her kidneys). Holding on to hope for your girl....

Thanks, but the vet already looked at the cells under a microscope, so I'm not holding out much hope of it not being cancer. :-/

Sending thoughts for the best of all outcomes and no pain for Starbuck. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: My Neko had an aggressive bony growth on her jaw that the dental surgeon removed. He sent it for biopsy and was preparing me for the worst. He was sure it was cancer. Luckily, she was the exception and it was not. Hoping Starbuck also beats the odds.

Stereotactic radiation therapy, used to treat Neko's acro tumour, is also used for osteosarcoma.
