StanleyB

Member Since 2013
StanleyB came to us upon a terrible summer storm in August 2011... We began feeding and caring for "her" and she was doing fine up until around January 2013 where she was drinking constantly and having urinary issues. Thankfully, DCIN and two other groups helped us get her diagnosed and to our surprise we found out that "Beautiful" was really a "Stanley", hence the username StanleyB : )

Stanley's Glucose levels are above 550 and we received and administered his first shots yesterday and today. We will use the Glucose meter later today and will check him regularly and post his numbers.

We'd like to thank all of the humanitarian groups out there... with good luck, care, and the grace of God Stanley will get better.

Hello, and welcome to you and to StanleyB!

How wonderful that you are looking after 'beautiful Stanley'. ;-)

What insulin is Stanley on? And what dose?

And well done, you, for starting to hometest. It is THE best tool to help Stanley.
What is Stanley eating at the moment?
Oh, and what is your name?

Sorry for the questions, we're nosey here...

Welcome to FDMB

Welcome and glad to hear StanleyB is on the road to healing. :YMHUG:

If you need help setting up his spread sheet, there are several people here that are a wiz at it. Me not being one of them.

Testing was the toughest for us, took about 10 days to finally get it, without frustration. But if you are just starting, hang in there. You might not think so now, but it will be second nature in no time. :-D

If you have any questions, about anything, there are almost always those with experience here, that will help you. Don't hesitate to ask.

Lucian and I are still new and struggling, but you will have ton's of support and caring here. :-D

Best wishes to you both! :YMHUG:

Hello and welcome to the board!

That's so great you adopted Stanley ! We can certainly help you get her regulated.

What meter are you using and what kind of food are you feeding?
Let us know how you get on with testing..

Wendy

Re: StanleyB update (March 1)

So, we have "self-learned" how to use the glucometer, and have been giving Stanley his insulin twice daily and taking readings. We plan to post all of the readings we have recorded on paper this week to the site/spreadsheet today.

I am also going to plug the glucometer into my laptop. I don't know who that transmits data to but will try to do that.

Thank you for everyone's concern over Stanley. We are doing the best we can to nurse him back to health along with many other things we have going on in our lives. We all love Stanley.

Best,
Patty and Tom Green

welcome to the best place on the internet.
the love and support are overwhelming. StanleyB is one lucky kitty.
it's great your home testing, that's key. def let us know what kind of food you are feeding, that can make a difference in numbers too.

If DCIN is helping, I'll bet StanleyB is in the process of getting the food to canned or raw, low carb food and probabaly on one of the longer acting insulins.

StanleyB FEELING AND ACTING MUCH BETTER

So, Beautiful, aka Stanley, aka StanleyB is doing very well on insulin. He is religiously getting shots 2x a day (one in the morning, one in the afternoon) and Patty is taking readings (I just posted a spreadsheet update - i THINK????) .... He is acting playful, calm, does not have the urinary issues he was having when we first got him diagnosed... etc....., etc.....

Thank DCIN and everyone else who has helped get Stanley back to health. We will continue to give insulin and monitor BG and he is on canned food (pate') 3x a day.

Thanks to everyone!

Um .. morning and afternoon shots? Generally, insulin is given every 12 hours. It could cause some problems if you are not shooting every 12 hours.
