It was weird. I saw him standing there looking at me. I coughed, cleared my throat, he just ignored the noise. I took the pic with my phone, and when the shutter clicked, he took off running! I see them all the time around the house, but usually I don't have a camera in my hand.
Aren't the "spotties" just incredible? I saw one a couple weeks ago run across the road in front of me (our speed limit is 10mph for a good reason), and she couldn't have been a week old. Not much larger than Mullet actually. We have a sort of "dwarf" sub-species of the white tail deer here. They are stunted due to the natural diet on the island. The newborns are the size of a large cat. I got to see a "baby's first steps" once, the poor thing was still wet and all shaky legged. I live for these "nature moments".
Very awesome you get to see a family's new additions each year!
Nice photo Carl - I kind of have a love/hate relationship with deer - we have such a huge population around here that the Lyme disease and tick problem is off the charts and I can't even tell you how many times deer have thrown themselves into my husbands truck (he's out driving all hours) - but they are SO cute - and I watch them as they eat the tops off my hostas, and chow down on the rest of the plant (Hostas are like candy to deer) and think "oh, how CUTE!"
Saw I big BUCK the other day by the side of the road - the guy had a huge rack on him and all I could think was "how many deer ticks must be lurking on that big boy?"
sigh....
When I first open the site, or hit PZI, a pop-up, then certain words in posts are underlined twice and in orange. when I hover over them, it shows me a box of ads to click on. I wonder if I've done something to my computer and it's only me.
