You have 2 options. You can click on the "paint bucket" icon, then click on "conditional formatting" and set up the statements that will format the cells. (You will need to do this in several blocks of rows/columns.
Alternatively, delete the rows you added. Then, highlight several rows of your SS. If you go to the "Insert" tab, it will ask if you want to insert ## of rows above or below. Select "insert below" and you will have additional rows added and the formatting should be preserved.
(I use a Mac so if you're using a PC, the process may be a bit different.)
