SQUIRT'S LETHARGY

Yesterday my Squirt (5-yr old female neutered baby) was lethargic but only that she laid around on the sofa and wasn't interested in too much. The problem is that she stayed there all night (unusual) and today has not wanted to eat and is still laying on the couch. I did put a little Kayo syrup on her lips but she did not seem to change much. I did not give her an injection this morning as she did not eat and even refused treats. Any suggestions?

If you are not home testing I would take her to the vet. Squirt could be having a hypo, she could be having DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) which is the other end from a hypo, she could be having an attack of pancreatitis, or other problems. If you are not testing at home you can't rule out the first two possibilities.

I second Mary Ann's recommendation. Lethargy and inappetence can be symptomatic of DKA and pancreatitis or other problems. Your kitty needs to eat regularly otherwise hepatic lipidosis can develop very quickly. I suggest asking your vet for a full blood work-up (inc. liver, kidney, etc.) plus a Spec fPL for pancreatitis and B12/folate tests. Are you home testing BG? Is Squirt pooping OK? Constipation can cause lethargy and nausea, too. Ask your vet to do a full physical exam to make sure Squirt's not backed-up. More info on constipation at link below:
