Squeak has a lump....

Squeak is doing really good on his PZI - 3 unites twice daily. He's eating, drinking and peeing 'normally.' But I found a lump on his left side - it's attached. It didn't seem to bother him when I rubbed it. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced anything like this. I take him to the vet every 3 months or so to have his blood sugar checked. He refuses to let me do it at home. He's doing great otherwise, I'm just concerned about the lump. He's about 11 years old. I don't want to put him thru a bunch of stuff because he HATES the vet and screams bloody murder until we get back home - and I'm serious.
Thank you for all comments. Lisa and Squeak

I don't have much experience with lumps.. You might post on Health to see what people there have experienced. Hope it turns out to be nothing.

What consistency is the lump - hard and immobile? firm yet squishy?

Lipomas - encapsulated fatty tumors are pretty common - they often feel firm to squishy and can be moved a bit. I have a few myself.

I have a dog and 2 cats with lipomas. The cats, one is ~3" diameter on her side; the other about marble size on the belly. Both have had them for 8+ years. Vet watches them, but there's been no change and no issues.

I had Dom's removed (dog) - and it's come back. Again, just watching, no special concerns unless it seems to change in size or appearance. Just like on humans. Vet does a slide to just look at contents because I get weirded out about lumps. Most are the consistency of chicken fat.
