We are a week and a half into our diabetes journey with 17 year old Marie and I am unsure what to do next. The vet started Marie at 3 units of ProZinc and we quickly determined, after 3 cycles, that was going to be too high of a dosage. We did change her diet to completely low carb wet food upon diagnosis. I would have tried this first, before insulin, but I was unprepared for this diagnosis. She does have beginning stages of kidney issues so I was expecting that to be the issue. She was given her first dose of insulin at her appointment at diagnosis. I found this group the same day but she already had 3 units so I thought I needed to keep it going. However, we have come down in dose and are now at .5 units, but I have been unable to give her the insulin due to numbers under 200. I am unsure how to move forward and would love some help. She is scheduled for a dental on Monday and I am so nervous! I want to make sure I am preparing her the best I can. Should I still do .5 units at each cycle if and only if she reaches 200?? She had a couple low numbers about 90 so I am nervous about that as well. Additionally, she has what they were calling arthritis but, after some research, it appears it could be neuropathy. Is the methyl-B a good supplement to add this early after diagnosis? Should I halt to injections she is receiving for arthritis? And one spreadsheet question, on the labs tab, should we change the ranges if they are not the same as the ones our vet provided on their reports? Thank you all so much. This resource has given me some sanity and is helping our little pin cushion get back on her feet...quite literally!
