Hi All,

looking at Luna's spreadsheet and her numbers just don't seem to want to go the way they are supposed to.

feeding Evo, but Fancy Feast was suggested because it has less calories but she didn't like the ff at all, so only today have i gotten her up to 50/50 evo/ff

thanks in advance,
Jen n Luna

There's a note on the ss about feeding 9lives and that's OK, so if Luna likes that food, why not stay with it?
Check Binky's list for foods lower in carbs if that's what you want to feed.

Feeding Your Cat: Know The Basics of Feline Nutrition

Did you want to try an increase from the 1u to see if it helps the numbers?

What about food manipulation? How are you feeding now, in just a few meals of several smaller ones? Some people play around with the food - as a few cats go lower overnite, they leave a bit higher carb out so that the cat does not drop too low and then be higher during the day. On the last few days, there is no pm before bed test, so there is no way to tell if she dipped lower at nite and then popped up into the 300s during the day.

You mentioned about the FD chicken causing a rise in BG. I don't know about the FD ones, but there have been some cats who do seem to jump higher after boiled chicken, so it's possible. Maybe try to eliminate them for 3 days or something and see if there is a diff.

I think maybe the different food like freeze dried chicken and the Christmas turkey may have had an effect?
There are 9-lives flavors that are low carb, check that list. (I printed it out to bring shopping with me.)

With Duncan I stuck with one flavor if he liked it and saw how his number would do with it over the course of 24+ hours. For him even thought the FF is slightly higher in carbs than friskies special diet his numbers were lower on it, so FF it is. FF is around 6-7% and Friskies special diet is 3-4% carbs.

Just need to play around with it and see what works. I would lay off the treats until you figure out what's going on. Also FF makes these "appetizers" that are just fish or meat in a very light gravy. Most have 0-1% carbs and have no effect on Duncan's BG - we use those for treats and we can still see what's happening with the other food while we use that.
