Our sweet angel Splitzie has left us to become an actual angel today. She started to go downhill a couple days ago, just after the appointment with the vet. She seemed to do better after her B12 shot and subQ fluids from the vet, but it was only a temporary fix. She started getting worse. Yesterday she quit eating, still wouldn't eat or drink today. We lost her about an hour ago. She is finally free of all of her problems which were so many, I'm not even sure of all of them. And even though in the end, we're not sure if she was diabetic or not, you guys have all been a great help to me and Splitzie, and at least kept her comfortable in her last days. She will be loved and missed every day.

Here's some pics starting with her first one....

And, FYI to those who want to know... This leg is the reason for her name. A friend of my mom's said "It looks like her leg is split" And she was stuck with Splitzie. :-)

We are so very sorry to hear this news. I had been looking for your posts on the Lantus forum and was getting worried. Splitzie was such a beautiful kitty and I know how much you will miss her. But take comfort in knowing that you did everything you could to help her and that she will always be with you. Fly free, dear Splitzie. We will light a candle to help you find your way to the Bridge, where all of our GAs will be waiting to welcome you.

In deep sympathy,
Ella & Rusty

Thank you everyone for all the candles, hugs and well wishing thoughts. I just keep thinking she's rolling in a field of catnip right now, and an endless supply of her favorite food, Meow Mix, that she has been deprived of the past few weeks.

OH NO!! Sending many many cyber hugs ((((((((((((((((((((((ZINDA)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I am so very sorry for your loss. Splitzie is flying free now, whole and healthy over the Rainbow Bridge. rb_icon

Thank you so much everyone. She was an amazing, beautiful, smart cat.
Yes, the happy memories do help, but at the same time hurt. Eventually they will only help.
Kind of a funny one she used to do... I used to scratch on the bed to get her to jump up, it got to the point where she just didn't want to jump (not weak, just didn't want to) she would scratch on the side of the bed and look at me, like ok, I did it too. Then it got to where she would honestly scratch the same amount of times I did. Yes, very smart cat.
She was in our life for her full 14 1/2 years, almost 15. My mom and a friend found her litter when they were only a day or 2 old. They were abandoned. I believe they were just left for us. Splitzie has been a huge part of our lives all the way through. Now that I have spent the last few months just worrying about her, making sure she doesn't eat the dry, watching her BG lately. Then the past couple weeks, everything has revolved around her... Not sure what to do. My other baby has not left my side since we got back home last night. He has been so close. They had kind of gotten to be buddies, so we can be there for each other.
And yes, drjsiems, she is free now. Free to eat what she wants, do what she wants. No more pain or being sick.

I did not know your Splitzie or any of her problems but her pictures and story touched me as does you sadness over her loss. I am so sorry that you are now without her in your life. I know the pain and sorrow you are feeling and wanted to you to know that I'm thinking of you. Lorraine
