Well spice seems like she is doing good. Her bg tonite is high. The vet called with her blood work results. Her potassium level is still not where it should be. She is getting potassium supllements. Her liver results have not changed. I am concerned about the liver issue. The vet did notice that her mouth is jaundice. I hope this isn't hepatic lipadosis. I have been researching. I hope we caught this early if that is what it is. From what I have read it is usually reversible with agressive feeding only if the cat has not eaten in 1- 3 days. My poor Spice had not eaten in about 4 days, we started feeding her baby food from then on since she is not eatng on her own. Or can this be from the pancreatitis? I will have to talk to the vet about this on Mon.

Has anyone had to deal with jaundice, or hepatic lipadosis? I would love some feedback.

David, how is your vet addressing the lack of appetite? Do you have her on appetite stiumlents?

I hope I'm reading incorrectly when you say she hasn't eaten in 4 days...is that possible?

Are you syringe-feeding Spice?

What other medications is she on at the moment?

This cannot wait until monday. You need to make sure she is eating now. My cat had HL as a result of DKA and we had to insert a feeding tube, but maybe you can avoid that if you make sure she is eating a normal amount of food per day (at least 6 ounces).

You need to measure so you know exactly what she is eating per day. How are the glucose numbers?

If you need help syringe feeding etc., there are many here who can help.

If this is true, that Spice hasn't eaten in days, please post on health and use the 911 icon to get the attention of the members with experience with these issues.

Best,

I agree, you need to post on health with a 911 icon, it is VERY serious when a cat doesn't eat.
I lost a civvie a few months ago because I hadn't noticed she quit eating. She developed jaundice
and I rushed her in and she had hepatic lipidosis. You need to be aggressive and syringe feed her
and you need to get her back to the vet. (the vet noticed she was juandice but didn't check for
hepatic lipidosis) You have been giving her insulin? without food?

Agree with everyone. You must get her to eat.

Have you seen these?

THE '~LIVER SHAKE~' FOR SICK CATS

This liquid food is appropriate for cats suffering from conditions where they are eating very little or not at all such as anemias, leukemias, deficiency states with symptoms of lethargy, listlessness, and weakness.

1 cup RAW LIVER (BEEF, or CHICKEN)
1 cup FRESH CARROT JUICE or V-8, or Tomatoe Juice
1/4 cup *FRESH FILTERED WATER
1 RAW EGG YOLK
1 tsp.KELP POWDER OR SPIRULINA

COMBINE AND MIX IN A BLENDER UNTIL LIQUEFIED. (Note: it will be frothy)

Dosage:

Administer 10cc daily 3-6 times a day. (6Occ per day max)

Some cats will need to be force-fed with an oral syringe, while others will drink it out of a bowl.

(I would consult your vet before trying the liver shake.)
