Sparks is at the vet again today, for another series of ennemas

Yesterday a poop came out but it was dry and ashy. I'm not sure if he has megacolon, as previous poo's had better consistency, but he was not happy. He vomited trying to get it out and didn't show an interest in food afterwards - almost all night - which is a first for him. We didn't shoot since he was just warming by the fire while hiding under the coffee table, visibly depressed.

He wasn't litterbox hopping like he did last time, but I saw him get in the box on Monday with no progress, and after this minute progress with funky results knew it was time to get help.

He ate & kept down 1/4 can FF at 5am, and again at 8am when his AMPS was 285 (after 24hrs mind you). Around 8:30 we gave 1u insulin, his lowest dose yet, and I gave him another 1/8c FF. We dropped him off about 9am and he'll be there until 6pm if they release or overnight if they think he should stay.

Last time, they left the choice up to me and I brought him home. Tonight I am leaning towards a stay and extended care if they think there is still more 'poo in the pipeline'

Poor guy!!!

I am so sorry Sparks is having a tough time. Makes everything else complicated too. You might post on Health. I know we have a number of people with kitties with poo issues. They could give you some ideas on supplements to try.

Thank you, Sue. You're right it is complicating everything, especially the efforts to get him regulated. I've had multiple poo posts and am trying some options but you're right that a general health request for advice is well warranted.

I'll do that after we get to talk to the vet. The numbers are really confusing too but likely are being affected by this situation and there's not been much to go from given the lack of + BG readings.

I have so many questions and there are so many products... but I just want him to feel better (and then hold his head still during testing).

The past few weeks I'd been congratulating him everytime after he went, which I'm sure my houseguests thought was odd

Sorry Sparks had such a rough day. Hope he will feel much better after he gets home and will have a good appetite.

Yes, you know you are a cat parent when your kitty's bathroom habits are one of the most compelling parts of your day.

Not only the guests might have thought it weird.....how's this for weird?

I just came to the index page, and I see "Sparks 11/30 - warning poop update", right below another thread that says "Yay For Stinky!"

Now, pretend I just came to FDMB for the very first time...... I think I'd leave quick like

so I take it Sparks is doing an "all-nighter"?
