Gosh, hope the fire was not a big deal. We had the building next door catch fire in April and evacuated our building as a precaution. That was very stressful and dramatic. I had four cats to get down from the 3rd floor and into my car and then move the car.
And Dante doesn't like storms, right? Dante doesn't seem at all bothered by any of the storms. He's more pissed off about being "confined"
I just looked over Dante's SS, and I sure don't have the answer, but I have some thoughts:
Yes - could be an infection or something else going on. Extreme stress? Could he have a food allergy? Did you change his diet when you got him? Any diarrhea? Look for dried egg product in the food and maybe try avoiding it for a week or two to see if that helps. Jeddie could not tolerate it and it took me a while to figure that out because it was in only a few of the foods I rotated.
He's pretty much been eating the same foods since I got him; never any diarrhea at all (although he poops like a big dog, lol) Been reading all the labels for any "starchy" ingredients, and nothing has egg. The Methyl B12 I got, he had for only 2 days 'cause I finally the saw the LAST ingredient listed is stevia.
Yes - could be you missed his optimal dose. Just looking at the colors (which is the first thing I do to see patterns) his numbers are getting worse as you raise the dose. He had the best numbers, so far, on 1.25u and 1.5u. His numbers were not as good on 1u, but he had just been uprooted and was stressed, and it was a new insulin.
If it were me, I would be really tempted to try 1u or 1.25u again - but you must be testing for ketones if you suspect an infection anywhere. would certainly like to catch him peeing Is he acting like he is sick? Just has an increase in appetite and urine output, as I do feed him soupy food I know he is fractious at testing time, but so many of these guys are smart enough to realize the testing and shot has something to do with not feeling well. The high numbers probably mean he isn't feeling great. I actually just discover a great way of testing- I put his food/treats on the bathroom counter and he has to sit in the sink to eat it, he he he. And it's not that he gets nasty, he just won't b still or tries to get away- tried the burrito thingy (saying no more on that) He's a big cat and I don't want to "fight" with him- more of a battle than I can handle, for sure.
Just an observation: there have been so many dose changes in the past 3 days you can't tell what he is responding to at the moment so you just have to wait it out a few cycles on the same dose to see if there is any useful response. will go through the rest of the weekend, and Mon morn, on the 1.25
Hope the answers come sooner rather than later.
