Hey everyone,
Sorry that I seemed to drop out of cyberspace and disappear into the ether. I've been very ill the past month or so and not really online much. I've been consistently keeping up with Magick's numbers though and he's doing so well! I've been able to pretty much control things via diet and in the 2 months since his crash and ER visit he's gotten about 15 units of Lantus total! He's not OTJ yet, but there have been times where he has gone almost 2 weeks without needing any insulin at all! I'm very excited for this and am hoping that diet control is our answer. I've been able to observe his behaviors pretty well and know when he's too high. I test and give anywhere between .5 to 1 unit based on where his numbers are. I need to update the spreadsheet as I've done it all manually lately but I will do that when I get to feeling alot better.
We did have one crash but I caught him quickly enough. He was hypersalivating and I quickly grabbed the caro syrup and rubbed it on his gums. When I tested him he was at 70. Retest in about 30 mins and he was back to his normal 160ish self. That's the only close call we've had. I couldn't be happier with the results and thank you all for helping me when I felt I had no where to go.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I promise to stop by more as I start to really feel better.
Hugs
