Tuesday night Sophia threw up all over the place and I thought that I might have given her too much food at one time. She ate a little yesterday wed.. but today she refuses to eat anything. She has hyper-t and diet controlled diabetes. I don't know what could be wrong with her. I feel like I watch her today and see if she is feeling better if not I will call the vet and take her in. I wonder if it has something to do with her hyper-t.

Have you tested her blood glucose levels and her urine for ketones? Could she have pancreatitis?

I'd be getting her in today if she doesn't improve, as not eating can lead to some nasty complications

Let us know how things go ok?

Jen

Thank you. her bg is OK she is not on insulin.... she now ate a tiny little bit.. but I have called he vet and they told me to come by tomorrow if she does not eat more.... she comes and looks interested but then turns around and leaves...I will let you knwo what is happening..

Thank you... Sophia is eating a tiny little bit.... I open a can and she may reject the food but then I open a different one and she eats a little. She is behaving normally... sitting in familiar places and jumping up on the couch.

I tested her this morning. It was 89 so that made me happy... I was also thinking about a blood test for hr hyper-t maybe it got worse. We give her meds on two ears in the morning and one ear at night. I keep an eye on her and also on the litterbox. Of course with her brother's CRF and her hyper-t there is an incredebible amount of urine. I also saw her straining for a poop/ and that may be the problem. I gave her something too for that this morning but she rejected that food with the meds.

I appreciate ypur help soo much.

Is she going to be going to the vet? Have you tested her urine for ketones (not that this is a huge risk but still...)

Re: Sophia won't eat..... this is an update /Vet visit

I took Sophioa to the vet this morning. She again refused to eat but liked a little bit of the gravy. The vet said she is not constipated, she is also not dehydrated but she has lost 1 lbs since august and is now 6.9 lbs.

She did not want to do a blood test since she tested her in august and also Sophia turns feral when she gets touched.. unless she sits on the arm of the sofa.. that is the only time you can really touch her... she is a funny one...

Yesterday I tested her blood and it was 89 so the vet was not worried about that since she is not on insulin since 2005.

She gave Sophia a Vitamin shot and also gave us pills for her appetite.

I was gone for 5 weeks until Oct 22 and dh took care of her and said that she did not throw up once and that she ate a can of FF every day. But she lost 1 lbs. somehow.

I wonder what is really wrong with her....since she is not hiding like she was before when she was really sick but acts normal /except cuddling up with her brother last night and shenever does that/

Now we wait and see... maybe the hyper t has gotten to her. She is now 15 1/2 years old...

A couple of things

1. I would be getting blood work if there was a change since august in her behaviour etc

2. One can of fancy feast is not enough for the majority of cats...

the vet did not think she needed the blood test since the last one was just fine.... dh fed her one can and a handful of dry DM so he said.... for 5 weeks... I gave her normally 2 and this is why she lost....
I hope she will regain her appetite and put on a little weight....

Thank you so much for caring,
