Hello. Harley will begin Lantus Solostar pen as soon as arrives from Canada. I have read the TR protocol and have a question regarding start dose. Per my calculations he should get 1 unit to start. He is underweight. Currently weighs 8#, was around 15#. I will dose based on Actual weight. He is currently on Novolin N.

There is a statement in the protocol that states the start dose should increase/decrease by taking prior data into consideration. I do not know what that means?? Consider data how?? Thank you!

It means if Harvey is on 4 units of Novolin, we would start closer to 4 units of Lantus. Since some cats show a marked reaction to the change, I would switch when you can monitor closely for the first few cycles, and maybe start a bit lower dose.

Hello and welcome, by the way. Do you have the half unit marked U-100 syringes for the Lantus.

Thanks! Yes I have the U-100, 3/10ml syringes with 1/2 unit marks. I have read how to draw with a syringe from the pen so good to go. I think. Maybe. We shall see.

Hi there and welcome! And good luck with the switch to Lantus. Keep asking questions as that is how we all learned. Let us know how we can help you. :)

Hello! And welcome to the L&L forum, ask any questions, there are very awesome people on here, Bella switched from novolin n to lantus and it was the best thing we could have done! Good luck
