some of you saw my post from yesterday
http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/todays-vet-visit-new-problems-bruising-and-anemic.158341/

mr biddles has been, for many months, making it his mission to perplex, addle, and generally flummox any veterinarian he meets, spending my money lavishly in the offing. incorrigible little stinker.

i had brought him to the vet yesterday AM after seeing him so depressed, lethargic, third eyelids showing, barely opening his eyes at all, and lack of appetite. it came on within 12 to 18 hrs.

the concern yesterday after exam and tests was that some sort of horrible platelet problem might be our new thing, along with anemia. he was dehydrated. liver enzymes still up. they monitored his glucose. glucose in urine but otherwise normal urine.

he stayed at the vet all day, and overnight. i was a basket case of worry.

i just got an update:

he has perked up with the fluids. is eating pooping peeing fine. his fructosamine was normal/possible hypo (i nearly fell off my chair). vet asks me, "there's this thing called somoji effect. do you know it?" and yes i do (cuz of this board LOL.)

so it might be that is what is causing all of this (thoughts please?) and that in fact the increases were unwarranted and well dont we feel silly. then again it might not be, but i'm hoping it is, and with another 24 hours there we should know better. she's watching glucose today, continues with fluids, will do another blood draw later today and see if liver enzymes went down. might decrease insulin again depending. will watch for new bruising, and will send out blood to path lab to verify #'s. inhouse his RBC looked good but they want to confirm. so in fact, this would mean no anemia but that he just has pale gums - the little goofball.

AND drum roll please........HIS PANCREATITIS IS BORDERLINE NORMAL. :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot: holy ****!

so not out of the woods and still might end up going to a medical center full of specialists but i'll take this good news today and let it warm me up a bit. i'll be visiting him later cuz boy do i miss him. we've never spent a night apart in all our 12 years together. totally geek, right? :cat:

I know how very dearly you love Mr Biddles, Jen, and I just cannot put into words how very, very glad I am that you've had some good news. Sending prayers and positive thoughts for this to continue. Fantastic news on the pancreatitis markers!

How great to hear some good news for Mr. Biddles!!

If there's a chance they'll keep him another night, take a piece of clothing in with you when you visit to leave with him. It'll help him to relax to have something that smells like mom. Something you sleep in at night will smell the most like you

Hoping for more good news later!!
