I know that you don't inject air into the pens so I've been holding the syringe plunger down tightly when inserting it. I draw out a little more insulin than needed so I can push out the air bubbles after removing the syringe from the pen. Even after giving the syringe a tap to get the bubble to the top sometimes there's still an air bubble and I end up with less than the needed 1 unit dose. Does the dial on the pen have anything to do with this process when you're using a regular syringe...should it be set to "1" or does it even matter?
Also, when there isn't enough insulin the first time, is it okay to put the same syringe back into the pen to get more insulin or should I take a new syringe?
