So many questions.. help.

If your cat isn't on the protocol insulins (Lantus, etc) how is the measure for the human meter apply? (using ReliOn Classic..) Is it still the same?..

Tried testing sugars today for first time and it seemed just to stress him out more.. it was not fun. also cause of the learning curve I probably didn't do it properly. and it seems to hurt him!!! not sure if can keep this up but also know it's really recommended to. Was discouraged by vet and just told to watch for low sugar; will be going in tmw to see their opinion.. Only been on 1 unit for a week and a half.. thinking he needs a bit more time before changing? or no?

Trying to do spreadsheet but understand the ranges are for the method/protocol thing.. idk. Not doing that cause using Vetsulin..

He's done okay so far (the Vetsulin, 1 u, twice/day.. total wet food/high protein freeze fried treats now, pretty much stopping his HC treats..) but I know he's not feeling good or himself.. just understand it is going to take time. and it's unsure for everyone what that means until you know.

Also urinating a bit more today.. (was nervous of hypo yesterday so he got a bit more HC treats that are still here..) can stress do this, or it's the treats, something else?

How to make him more comfortable?.. am going to try making some homemade turkey for him.

It's going to take a bit for your cat to get. used to testing. It's going to take a while for you to get comfortable with testing. The more relaxed you are, the easier it will be for your cat. I'm assuming someone provided you with the links for home testing. There is a lot of good information in those links. It's very important to test. Not all cats show outward signs of hypoglycemia. Home testing is the best way to keep your cat safe.

great to know! thought I read on the spreadsheet info page it was based off one method or another.. can't recall. definitely believe in being conservative.. unfortunately my syringes are only by 1 unit.. and $68 from the vet.... terrible. I don't want to increase by that much.. will talk to vet. also am wondering if should wait til Friday because that makes it two weeks at this dose and read somewhere it was suggested to do this prior to changing? or 1 week again is fine if it does? (it's a little over a week..)

did read the Vetsulin beginner page.. im like I need other syringes.. it was kind of someone to link some on my Furbaby thread.. and Lantus also has it's own other special syringes, right?

I understand.. am trying to do so and adjust w everything. there's a lot of pressure.. but we're doing our best and trying to be calm too. will be more relaxed next time cause have done it now a few times.. will do best. it's hard too when you also have a vet who knows some things, but not all this.. or idk what's going on. wish he had been started on Lantus. but know too that some people have had really good success with Vetsulin.. so idk.

also read everything on testing.. tried watching videos.. just feel a time crunch and pressure to get it right asap.. tough. think might also try a lancing device.. tried freehand first. *cries poke fast? poke slow? seems to hurt.. hoping will lessen with time.

Also.. can anyone suggest a good affordable food? I've read people like Fancy Feast or Friskies classic pates.. He's currently on Merrick Limited (Turkey, sensitivity..) but considering we're dealing with this atm he's eating more cans.. and for the time being things need to be as affordable as possible .. so now im considering changing his food for the time being.

any suggestions plz lmk.. will also take a look at that Food chart.. but if can just suggest to me would be so helpful.. thanks.
