Just received Snuffles values. His IGF-1 is 443 with normal range 12-92. AA is 13 and MSU said further interpretation is following. I do not know what that really means. My MurrFee's IAA was 0 with range <20 and his IFG-1 was >571.

Snuffles is currently on 9-10 units made up of 4 units Levemir and 5-6 units N. I started the N since I was not getting a any good response with only Levemir.

I wish I could BG test Snuffles mor but sometimes he bits. Last January he sent me to the ER for stitches. At first I pnly noticed the hand bite. When I cleaning up the hand when I rolled up the sleeve of my long sleeve t shirt ands sweatshirt did I notice the arn bite. Yes you can see the subcutaneous fat. After that I added buspirone to the already generic prozac he was already taking I started the Prozac after a bad bite in my calf. With the meds he is doing better.

Oww!

Our Purrseus is an especially fearful cat, which we didn't realize until Lola and her roomie Sonnie joined the household. He attacked them, especially Lola, like a heat seeking missile, more than once! He bit me deeply when I jumped in to separate them, once to the bone. His eyes had that glazed, far-off look. He wasn't seeing me at all. It was very scary. We tried the generic prozac, which didn't seem to do much. Then we tried amitriptyline, which just turned him into a doorstop, so back to the prozac. I was on the verge of changing back to the amitriptyline because I preferred a doorstop to no change in his behavior at all, when one of the clinic's vet techs (who was in her final months of study at the U of Mn's vet school) said they had been using Lorazepam at the school with some success.

What a difference! As far as I'm concerned, it's a miracle drug. It comes in .5mg tablets that I have to get from the local pharmacy (and I get carded when I pick it up - I guess it's a scheduled drug). His initial dose was half a tablet, which turned him into the sweetest thing you've ever seen. His fear transformed into mild curiosity. Even Lola has noticed the difference and no longer reacts in terror if he comes near. He longer hid in the basement behind the toilet during thunderstorms. Or when the doorbell rang. It was extraordinary!

However, it did also turn him into a doorstop (which was proving to be a hazard to we senior citizens who might need to get up in the night since he elected to lie in the middle of the hallway) so we elected to decrease his dose to 1/4 tablet. The "doorstoppiness" is gone. Sadly, so is the "mild curiosity." On a 1/4 tablet he's more interested in Lola than I'd like, but I'd already concluded that I was never going to trust the 2 of them together anyway unless he was restrained in some fashion, and that's what we're living with.

Anyhow, you might mention Lorazepam to your vet if the Prozac isn't enough.

Whoa, Larry! Those pics need a health warning! (Maybe thumbnail images might be gentler on squeamish members like myself. )

Really sorry that happened to you. Ow!!!! :nailbiting:

Would Snuffles handle a Libre meter?
I can test him OK since it takes little time. I do not think he would like shaving and attaching the Libre sensor. The vet said it was difficult to get blood from Snuffles for the bloodwark. It was easy for Badger nut difficult for Wiggles. Maybe it was the noise of the clippers.
