Does anybody know why cats sneeze, besides the obvious reasons? Sadi started sneezing a few months ago - she was on amoxicillan & then a steriod (i think) none of which helped.. I mean..it is maybe 3 or 4 sneezes a day..no known allergies.....
But now Baby started sneezing about a month ago..so it almost seems viral..but they sneeze about the same amount & are fine otherwise. Any thoughts?

having dealt with a lot of sneezing foster kitties, I can tell you there are a lot of different reasons behind sneezing.

Could be viral, could be bacterial, could be environmental (too much dust or an allergen)

could even be an obstruction in the nose.

I don't worry about sneezing in my cats (one of my own just sneezed for about a week before it cleared up on it's own) unless it effects how they live / seems to bother them.

Usually the vet will prescribe some antibiotics and see if that works. Then if that doesn't work they will suggest they get a good look up there one way (scope) or another (ultrasound, x-ray?)

if you think it is environmental, you could use saline drops (one drop per nostril) to help flush out any debris that might be in the nasal cavity. it will cause a lot of sneezing but it should help flush out anything small enough to be flushed out.
