Sneezes

This is random but the day after Jack was diagnosed with diabetes he started sneezing like crazy. This was Thursday morning all the way until today (Sunday). I figure his immune system was a little weak and all the vet stress but it is insane how rapid his sneeze attacks are. He's down the hall and I can hear him sneezing. Anyone have any ideas? I'm planning on contacting the vet tomorrow just in case bc I researched that he could have herpes? I dunno for sure but he's not loving it.

My Willow has allergies, and she sometimes sneezes. Stress can cause all kinds of things in cats...whether that is causing new issues or amplifying existing ones. One time, after I took Willow for a quick trip to the clinic just for them to get blood to test, her eyes started running. Her eyes had never run before, and she was 15. I asked about it and was told runny eyes are common in cats and can be caused for many reasons and not to worry about it. That was not an answer I liked. It killed me to see her pretty eyes running knowing that something about that vet visit caused it. It took a long time for that to stop, and really, she still gets a little crusty spot next to one eye.

A lot of times, vets blame any kind of allergy-type symptoms on herpes and want you to give the cat something like Viralys. For Willow, that is not her issue. I humored a vet once and gave her Viralys for awhile, but it had no impact at all. She has always been prone to allergies, she even has asthma. I started giving her 1/4 of a 10mg Zyrtec every day, and it seems to help a little with the allergy symptoms (also increases her appetite some which is a good thing).

There have been a couple of times when Mia had a little sneezing fit which was very weird since she normally does not do that. It only happened those couple of times and has never happened again. Maybe that will be the case with Jack.

We have six cats and sneezing/goopy eyes etc. runs through the house in cycles. Jackson could have picked up something airborne at your vets office (they don't like hearing that) so continue with the visit but don't get bamboozled into an elaborate treatment plan unless it doesn't pass in a few days. Any other cats or dogs in the house?

Wow, you both called it -- his right eye just started to get all goopy. No other cats in the house but we have 2 dogs who looooove Jackson. They are all up on his grill every time they see him.
I have a sneaky suspicion that he picked up something from the vet... he was super weak, underfed, and super stressed during that visit so I wouldn't be surprised.
Thank you all if you can't tell already I am a worry wart and pretty sure I would've been suckered into buying him Viralys.

This happens to Andy twice a year. Our #2 vet has a test where he puts an inert dye in Andy's eyes which may or may not show up in his nostrils under a special light. This vet has lots of toys, does his own blood work. The test confirms something, I can't remember what.
