Hello all!

Sneakers is doing well, turned 19 in June and clearly still rules the nest we live in. This acro kitty is fluctuating between 2.7 (ish) and 3.2 (ish)- a far cry from her 33u BID and the 8u when we were last here. Funny having to micro dose a high dose cat.

We have added Bupe to her arsenal of drugs and are trying to get cypro for her since she doesn't feel the need to eat sometimes. We found fomatadine (liquid pepcid) for her tummy and she gets that daily along with mirilax, cosquine, and gaba. And she gets a dropper full of b-12 twice a week since once a week wasn't working.

She is loosing weight- which is strange when most other acro kitties weigh 17+ lbs she is under 8 now. I think it is related to her not eating. I think she kept having boughts of p-titis and not wanting to eat. But now with the fomatadine and her b-12 juice she is feeling better. She is continuing to be picky as anything though and I am having to try new cans with her to entice her to eat.

While playing and (mostly) preening have not happened in a long while she still purrs, pees, and poops okay and she does like to eat (on occasion). I think her QOL is still great for her and when the weather is nice we go out and sit on the porch together or she supervises me doing yard stuff.

Human wise- finished with school and now looking for a job. In the meantime I am working on the house and trying to get rid of stuff in case I have to move. That is about it for now. I think you you all often and if I could figure out how to get this on my phone I might be on more.

Hi Heather - I haven't stopped in before but have read some of your condos. Neko got her acro Dx about three weeks after Sneakers and is also an acro girl so I've been following how Sneakers is doing. Neko too is on small doses (around 1 unit) - it does seem strange for them to be so sensitive to the smallest changes in insulin. Sneakers sounds like she is a lot thinner now. Neko is weighing in around 15 lbs but is part Maine Coon and is only a pound over her pre Dx weight.

Overall, it sounds like Sneakers is doing pretty well for a 19 year old. You are doing a great job with her! Good luck finding a new job.

Wendy-
I spend a lot of my time on the acro facebook page. I am more active on that as it pops up directly on my phone so easier for me to work with.

I know the small doses is strange but it is a tap inside their brain- it is either on full or drip so that means the kitties need either a ton of insulin or just a drop. Her highest dose was around 33u BID so this is easier cost-wise for me to handle.

Sneakers top weight was maybe 13 lbs but she isn't a 'Coon! But she is doing well for her age and condition. I told her she had to stay alive until I graduated and then she could leave whenever she wanted. When I got home after our commencement I told her I was ready for her to go. She has tapered of and recovered a few times since then so I don't think she is ready herself. Either that or I take too good a care of her to let her slip away. But she's my princess and has her own methods and madness that i cannot comprehend at all.
