Well, after looking at her chart and even though she has only been on 4.25 for 3 cycles I think I missed her dose so I dropped it to 3.75 for this PM shot.

Reasoning- She had lots of yellows and gave me her first blues at 3.5u, along with a few pinks- but there were reasons why the pinks- rebounds from the blue, getting into my cream cheese and bagel (whole grain- good for me, not for her :-D ).

So I moved her up to 4u and I got some lovely blues sprinkled in by low yellows and a few more pinks- namely around shot time but her numbers were starting to creep up again- and this time the red didn't have a reason so I increased to 4.25

Today's numbers are higher that they were at 3.5u and i got another red that I felt should have been lower- or at least a pink. I just feel like i missed it and now she is climbing the other side.

Her ketones left at 3.5, I continue to check every other day now and they are always negative.

Does this make sense? Let me know If I am reading her chart right.

Thanks.

I don't think you missed her dose. It looks more like a tug of war to me... You were at 4u for plenty long enough and you got no improvement, but rather were stagnating in yellow/pink. You raised to 4.25u and naturally you saw an increase in the BG because the shed needs to be filled.

Just look at the amps ONLY for the last 4 days.... progressively higher/steady pink, yes?
You stayed with the 4u dose a bit too long, but that's OK. You increased to the 4.25u and saw the usual resistance - need to fill shed so less going to the cat now. Some cats take longer for the dose to settle when changed. My Shadoe was quick and I knew by the 3rd or 4th shot, but stuck to at least 5 cycles, while my Oliver would sometimes take 6cycles or more to realized I had changed something.

I think you need to be at the 4.25u, so definitely test for ketones often.... I have no ketones experience as neither of mine had a problem but I get the feeling that some cats are prone to them.

I don't see any rebound or passing the good dose.

How is Sneakers acting now since the insulin change? Are you noticing any differences? My Shadoe was much more calm on Lev, but Oliver was the same on Lantus and Lev.

Sneakers has always been mellow. Though she was squeaking at the large PZI dose when she got it- even after I warmed it in my hands so I know it stung.

She is still a lazy cat- and she didn't used to be early last year she was outside, running after the birds and rabbits, summer came and boom! Weight loss and begging me for my food.
She's still peeing a lot- not huge like before, but more than normal- will that ever change?
Started to preen herself a little- not a whole lot, just every now and then. I've noticed the dandruff coming back in her tail. Her fur is soft, but not glossy or silky- at least it isn't dusty/dirty like it used to when the dandruff was bad. She used to get mats that I would cut off her or use a razor.
She lies all the time on the cold wood floor rather than on her sunning mat- so is she hot all the time? I don't know. She doesn't sit in the window box and listen to the birds... maybe I need to change it to a window that isn't in the sun?

Sorry, musing here. No, no attitude change at all.

Thanks for the information. Will check ketones in the morning as that will give her time to shed from the shed.

Raising the dose can cause wonky numbers for several cycles. She has had reds here and there no matter what the does has been (so far), but as the dose increased she has more yellows and a few more blues. So stick with the 4.25 and let it settle 3-5 days if you have to.

Actually, I think you could have gone to 4.5u from 4u - that's about a 12% increase, so should be fine.

I don't see anything that says to me that she is rebounding.
