Sneakers is doing okay lately.

She had a high number at +8- I am thinking it was the crumbs of feta I gave her for a bad day before. When will I learn that she can NOT have anything (even less than 1% carb???) until she is more stabilized? But at least it had dropped by feeding time at +11.5 to her 'normal' pink range.

She has been picker about her food these last few days. Hasn't wanted to finish the FF because it was too watery, same for the chicken. Is old age setting in or just punishment for leaving her for a week? I don't know.

On the plus side, I lost 3.5lb while in Chicago  .

Bravo on the 3.5 pounds :-D

I know Hershey acts out when we leave him. We left him for two weeks in one summer to visit an aunt in Florida. My brother-in-law came over every day to check on him. For the next 6 months he threw litter EVERYWHERE. It was almost like he's scrunched his feet into the litter to get them good and full because he'd track it all over the house AND he'd dig in the litterbox like a dog at the beach - litter FLYING!!! Guess that'll show them - I thought he'd never forgive us!!!! That's the worst he's ever done, but when we're gone he doesn't eat nearly as much and that sometimes continues a little while after we get home.

Hope things settle down to normal for y'all soon -

Libby (and Hershey, too!)

How did Hershey do with the leash?

I was thinking of training Sneakers so I can take her to camp this year (over Labor Day weekend). It's like 2 hours away to drive and we would be in a hotel-like room.

Forgot you were headed to Chicago - how was the trip? Did you see/do a lot while there? I remember the itinerary someone suggested - VERY ambitious!

Oh, the life of a cat. Mom, my food's too watery. Mom, my food's too dry. Mom, the dog licked me. Mom, the other cat used my box  . Mom...

CHILDREN!!!

Sneakers why are you eating feta cheese? I like feta cheese to  . Baxter doesn't like cheese, makes him throw up.

I need to go out town too. But I need to be gone for a couple of weeks. I know if I go I will be a wreck while I'm gone & just need to come back home so i dont get sick. So I have been working so hard on getting Baxter in a good place so maybe I don't worry as much.

What a great weight loss plan. The FD cat owner weight loss diet plan. Go out of town & leave your FD cat for 3 days in the care of a stranger. Bam...the pounds will shed right off. Need to lose more weight be gone longer.

Mainly because we walked EVERYWHERE. And I didn't get to eat all the good stuff people suggested I go for  as I had to eat a specific meal plan most days  . Doesn't mean I didn't worry about her when the texts were late...

We stayed in the the loop area, went to free museums and did two separate sculpture walks on different days. The last day we walked for over 5 hours in the rain (and then spent almost 4 hours at Union Station reading books and magazines)

Sounds like a WONDERFUL time, except maybe the rain... but at least it wasn't snow! And WIND CHILL FACTOR - blowing off the lake - and in a wind tunnel between the skyscrapers!

Chicago has some world class museums and things to do. I love the architectural model of downtown - where you may have started one of your tours... I think it's the Manodnok Building.... great terra cotta staircase in the atrium... (sigh!). The building was under restoration when I was a student at U of I. All the terra cotta had been painted, and they were mediculously removing all the paint from those intricate details. Not sure if they were really patient... or if they knew it was job security... can only imagine how long it took!

While you were at Union Station, did you make the connection with the movie Silver Streak? When the train crashes into the station, it's Union Station's lobby. As it approaches the station, it's the Chicago & Northwestern (now Metra) Station, about a block away. I love the grandeur of the old train stations!

So which was your favorite sculpture?

I like the Picasso one- reminded me of a zebra :-D . Some we couldn't take pictures of- mom and I got into trouble twice- and they had NO notices about it at all.

I don't think I have seen Silver Streak but I have seen the Union Station is various movies and thought "Wow! It really does look like this :!: "

Mom went on a architectural tour of buildings and as we went on our walks she would point out this building or that one and tell me what she had learned. We stayed at the Hard Rock- Carbine and Carbon Building, which also is terra-cotta-ed- I just thought it was dark grey granite  .

I'm sure sneakers is glad to have you home. I am so used to planning my vacations around my dog for a dog friendly place. Now i'll have to inclued that for a cat. We like to go camping a lot in the summer months. Somehow i don't think bringing my cats would work in a tent. Will have to figure something else out. Hmmm.

Glad you had a good time in Chicago.
