Well- two finals, presentations, and paper projects finally done and finished with so I can now get back to my old life for a few weeks.

Sneakers is doing well- up to 23u BID and rarely has a pink and sometimes has blues.

Eating more and pooping regularly now since I upped her Mirilax to BID.

She's met the pet sitter twice and didn't run away either time. The second time I walked Jessica through the testing process so am confident she will do fine. We leave on Saturday and I hope to learn how to set up the camera on my mini so I can stream video while I am gone. It is fixed so I will set it up across from her food/test/shot/nap area for maximum coverage  .

I guess that is about it for us, I'll look through the posts I haven't had a chance to read in three weeks and see what you guys and gals have been up to.

Heather, how long will you be gone? Hope all goes well for Sneakers while you are away. Have to laugh bout the "spy" camera you are going to set up! I think we all want to know what they are doing when we are not there.

She looks nice and stable right now. Good job with everything so busy at school for finals and such.

Have a great holiday!

I'll be gone Saturday to Saturday- or early Sunday morning- most likely 3 hours before her AM shot time if previous trips are any judge.

I'm freezing her food in types- all tuna last night, do mixed grill tonight after work and super supper tomorrow morning and chunky chicken and tuna tomorrow night and bag them all and will pull out the raw chicken as well. I took it away from her about 2 weeks ago so she should eat it okay. That way all the pet sitter has to do is pull out the cubes, thaw 2 for immediate with meds, and while Sneakers is eating that thaw two more and put out 4 cubes for daily grazing and repeat for dinner. Down to a science  .

I am hoping that I can catch her and see when she is eating on a regular basis during the day. I stopped using the auto feeder when she stopped eating so much during the day and need to sell it now.

I don't know how much access I will have to the internet- maybe hang out in a coffee bar for the wi-fi if I need to  . I think the place we are staying has access but last time I wasn't able to get on at all.

Have a safe trip! I like your idea of the spy cam. I hope you're able to access the internet - that would be cool to check on Sneakers here and there.

I just got a few text books for next semester. This break is flying by! Enjoy your time off. :-D

I haven't even thought about text books  !

Sneakers doesn't eat as much when I am gone, one of the reasons why I want the web cam is to see her habits when I am not there. Since I have two laptops I will be able to adjust the one staying behind for best coverage and to make sure it is indeed broadcasting.

Sounds like Tigger is gonna have some competition with his "on camera time"!

Great job getting him set up with the new sitter! Hope all goes well with your trip!

And Sneakers - keep up with the pretty numbers!!!

Didn't get the camera set up- thats going to be my project when I get back. I do, however, have a house sitter who watches and feeds Sneakers so she is doing alright and the pet sitter comes in and tests and gives shots.

Run down-
Saturday morning- 216 or so
Saturday evening- 100  - told pet sitter to shoot 20 units instead of 23
Sunday morning- 350  - expected this, kept to 20 units
Sunday evening- 238- doing good- her bounces aren't staying high or long- still 20 units
Monday morning- 156- good recovery... wondering if maybe she is still swinging and needs to go down to 17u? Kept at 20 units but wondering about evening dosage.

I have access to the internet as this is a cool retirement community with computer access in the library (individuals regularly skype with other missionary family members), they just opened the pool room with jaquizzi and I just walked through an exercise group to get to the library.

Leae here on Wednesday morning and we have a hotel room for two nights with my brother and that will have access.

SS not updated at all.

Everyone have a great Christmas time tomorrow!

Hey Heather - sorry you didn't get a response earlier - did you stick with the 20u? It might be ok since she came down from a low 200 like before (that led to the 100) but not as far. Any spot checks? That would be the real key to how the dose is doing.

Have a Merry Christmas!

206 this AM
225 this PM
Kept it at 20 units.

Pet sitter couldn't make it- NLR, AR is getting sleet and the roads have iced and she wasn't able to make it- 30 miles away and over several bridges. I spent 10 minutes talking my house sitter through it for the PM test/shoot. She got angry and hissed at him but all meds are in and he was sucessful on the testing.

He will most likely be doing it until we get back as snow is expected tomorrow on top of the iced roads so no go for the pet sitter. I don't even know if we will make it home as mom planned she was shooting for Friday while I said Saturday. It might be Sunday!

He said she was peeing a lot. that isn't normal but I wonder if that is in reaction to the colder weather. Usually it takes 2-3 days to fill the pee pad but he says she is going through them in about 30 hours. I should have enough until I get back.

Icy roads are the worse - so dangerous! Good that you have an "alternate" for the sitter.

Maybe she is a little stressed and drinking more because of it? Of, yeah, cold weather usually = drier air, so she is drinking more...? Hope it isn't anything more than that.

Be safe getting home!

Sneakers shot was late this morning and she was high- 306. SS is updated with the numbers for the time away and I have the other numbers at home. Not getting mid-numbers is driving me antsy.

House sitter had to leave last night and didn't get back until 9:30 this morning- 4.5 hours after her normal time. He had left food out but yesterday morning he dropped her dose 5u without consulting me about it- it would have been safe for her to do 20u so I think her 306 this mid-morning was combination of late shot and reduced shed storage from yesterday. I told him this will change her shot/meds time until it gets moved back. I will be able to shift her and get back to normal time by the time I go to work  .

We will be driving home tomorrow- 10 hour drive and heading to maybe icy roads but home in the evening and so i can get back to Sneakers tomorrow morning.

Be careful, be careful! We had snow here today and the roads were terrible - and I am used to bad winter weather and bad roads.

I bet you will be so happy to be home where you can manage Sneakers' care directly! Hope it doesn't take too long to get her back on track.

Hope the weather is cooperating for your travels. BOTH times I've driven at Christmas, it snowed REALLY hard, and i swore never again. mom says I'm nicer after a 2 hr flight than 20 hr drive, znd now my back would be a problem, so flying it is. too bad about the webcam...sneakers n tigger can have their own "show"! At least when u get back! Maybe she can share secrets for her good numbers w him!

Heather, what kind/size of pee pads do you use? I might need them for Cami and my aunt needs them for her cat. I looked online and there are dozens of sizes/brands with good and bad reviews. They seem like some are really expensive, but if you buy bulk they are cheaper. I just don't want to buy 50 if they turn out to be unusable.

I use the ones that fit into the Breeze tray. At the store they are $5.50 for a 4 pack but I can get them on Amazon (use FD link!) and get 10 packs for $45 including shipping. If I can use my mom's prime I get free shipping. I do like the pads- better than changing out the clumps and cheaper for me and a lot less litter tracked through the house. But these are the kind that is specific for the tray- they aren't just left out on the ground and I have looked for the size and cannot find them as all others are too large for the tray.

And she isn't peeing more, he was just changing them when they were barely used.

Back home, Sneakers was SO HAPPY to see me! we spent the night at my mom's and then went back home the next day after I got a chance to run the vacuum since she wasn't there.

No it is time to catch up on everything that has been going on.

Welcome home! I am sure Sneakers was thrilled to see you. My aunt's cats were happy to see her yesterday (home from the hospital finally).

I ended up buying some Nature's Miracle pads because they were on sale for $27/100. These fit in the large litter box pretty well and her cats have already used them in the LBs and on the floor. Her male cat has severe diarrhea from IBD and can't seem to always make it into the pan. I am trying them at home, but so far Cami is not using them. She still prefers the rugs, dang it! I may look into the ones you mentioned along with a tray to hold them and add that to my existing boxes. I have to do something! I can't live like this with a cat peeing on my rugs all the time.

When Grayson and I returned from my mom's house, I don't know who was more of a cling-on... the dogs, or Wally (cat). He usually just coexisted here, unless I sat on the couch. This week, he's SNUCK into the bedroom several nights and snuggled ON TOP OF ME all night long! And Paulo & Dom (dog) were ALL OVER Grayson! I know G appreciated being back with his dogs. He really didn't like getting barked at by my sister's dogs!

There's no place like home! And we're SOOOOO happy to be back! I'm sure you feel the same way! ;-)
