Sneakers has been a known diabetic for a year now- DX'd on 11-22-11. she has made it a year thanks to this board and the acro facebook team.

I sincerely thank you all for your advice and helping me to take charge of my little lady's health instead of relying on a vet that hasn't checked up on FD in years.

She is currently curled up on top of her new stool (with a 2 inch foam top for comfort) and snoring away after her supper. She much prefers it over the hard freezer top  . I'll post pics of it soon.

Can't wait to see pics

You're sure doing good by her with everything.

And keeping her often below the renal threshold.

Well, is "happy anniversary" inappropriate?

You are doing great for her. She is a lucky girl to have such a dedicated mom. Can't wait to see the pics.

Heather:
You deserve an awful lot of praise for all that you've done for Sneakers! :thumbup :RAHCAT :YMHUG:

The fact that she's happy and healthy and her numbers are normally well below 250 really shows your dedication to her. Kudos to you!!!!

Her new fav spot is the cushioned top- sleeps there all day curled up on the flannel top and she doesn't hang off both ends at the same time
I did replace the stool as the ramp is a tensy bit steep and she doesn't have anything to grab a hold of coming up. I am getting carpet to staple down for tread.

This is something that doesn't happen too often anymore. After the cat shelter the bed stairs are next.

All of these projects are being made with "found" and "have" wood so they aren't the cutesy store-bought stuff. The shelter was an old wooden cabinet and is painted camouflage on one side and old white paint on the other

Wow that's so cool!

And what a sweetheart!

I think while older gals may be less active, they seem to be *relatively* healthy and happy all things considered and don't seem to get bored with the slower routine. And for all their aches and pains they don't complain like humans. And they are so grateful for what we do that makes it all worth it.

She sure picked the right mamabean!

Great recycling Heather! I'm sure Sneakers thinks it's the Taj Majal! I've got two benches that came from a hotel ~20 years ago. They don't look like much; the cushion is gone, but they're perfect height in front of the windows, AND fit a big dog AND a cat or smaller dog! I keep threatening to cut the legs down about 4" for Dom to get up easier. But that's where you'll almost always find at least 2 of them!

She's a lucky girl to have a mom that loves her so much! :-D

That's so cool what you built for Sneakers! When my ex-BF (Beck's previous owner) and I built the platform for Beck's doggie bed, it was also out of spare/scrap lumber in my garage. The biggest expense was the hardware (self-driving screws and metal "L" joints to strengthen all the corners).

Sneakers is a very beautiful, and very spoiled kitty! I hope she knows how lucky she is to have your for her mom?

Found some carpet! Neighbors rental property just changed the carpet and I took a roll to look at and see if it is any good. All I need is a 45 x 8 inch piece.
