Hello everyone!

I just wanted to update you on Smokey! Today was the day that I was to call the vet with his readings over this past week. I forwarded him my spreadsheet and he told me that the AMPS over the past 3 days look in line and he thought the PMPS's looked a little lower than he liked but not to be alarmed. He recommended that we hold on the 2u for another week and re-evaluate. His SS is up to date if you'd like to take a look and/or comment with your thoughts!

Smokey and I are keeping our fingers crossed!

Hi guys - and good luck. I am glad that your vet was pleased. It's always good to have them in our corner. I personally liked the PMPS better than the AMPS, then again I am a big fan of blues and yellows. :-D You guys are off to a great start. I hope you will continue to post on Smokey - beautiful kitty btw.

I don't remember if you're not home during the day. If you are, it's important to get at least one spot check. It's also critical to get your pre-shot tests. It's the only way you will know if it's safe to shoot.

Based on the dosing protocol we use, you would hold your initial dose of Lantus for 5 - 7 days. Given that you didn't shoot twice a day for 2 days, you've got 5 days of insulin in Smokey's shed. Again, based on the protocol, you could increase the dose to 2.25u at any point. It's your choice if you want to follow your vet's recommendation or use the protocol.

Unfortunately, I work full time so I can only test some of the nadir's on the weekends and maybe a couple times a week if I come home from lunch. I agree that he should be increased by .25 but since he has only been on 2 units for 5 days and 1 unit for the first 2 days, I will give it a few more days before doing that. Thank you for the compliment on his good looks!! Since I gave birth to him....he takes after his mama!!

Sounds like a plan! How about checking in regarding the increase during the cycle prior to when you're thinking about increasing? A lot can happen in a couple of days.
