Good Morning LL!

I threw away my lantus vial (after 48 days of use) and started my first Solostar Pen for my PM shot last night. I want to rule out that all of those Reds came from my expired vial! I just hated throwing away 1/2 of a bottle :evil:

I got 276 this morning which has been his best in 6 days, I'm just thinking this may be a reflection of being so high last night and his body producing more insulin as a result.

Smokey's Test Results:
T-4 upon diagnosis of Hyper-T = 4.9
T-4 after 1 month of medication = 1.9
Fructosomine = 251
(The vet said that the Fructosomine, "Excellent" range is between 300-350 and anything less that 250 would be considered too low). Since I am at 251, he would like for me to remain at the 2 units with my new vial of insulin for a week and see how the BG does.

I do have a question though - If your giving 2 units, do you place the top of the plunger at the very bottom of the 2 unit marking? Or, do you place the top of the plunger at the very top of the 2 unit marking? I'm currently placing it at the bottom which is giving more insulin. After looking at the plunger photos in the sticky's, I'm still confused.

Hope you all have a day of great numbers!

Good morning .. sorry to hear you had to throw away so much insulin but you will find the pens are a more economical way to go because of that problem .. I hope that smokey comes down off the yellow floor for you and hopefully you get you test results soon .. have a great day guys!

Good Morning! That's a good number to start the day off with! I just started using the pens too. I didn't throw my vial away though. I held on to my last one for a year (I didn't use, just couldn't bring myself to throw it away). I guess because I spent so much $$ on it!

Looking forward to hearing about his T4...It would be nice to see if his thyroid meds are doing the trick. Have a great day!

i put the top of the plunger so that the top of the line is even with it. so you see blank space above, then the plunger and the line match. i don't know if that's right or not.

but really, probably what matters is for you to be consistent every time.

i always lined up the very tip of the plunger with the line...but i used Monoject syringes...so the lines are very skinny...
don't know if that makes sense...

wonderful to see such good test results...
