Heya!

Noxin is rockin' his Fancy Feast diet (though he and his sister are still having loose stools :( ). My problem though, is that my husband cannot stand the smell of the wet cat food. Everyone has smells / things that really bother them, and so far the fancy feast makes him want to puke to the point where sometimes he'll have to leave our apartment to go for a walk when I feed them.

Are there any other diabetic friendly foods that aren't so stinky? Can I do something differently?

Lend me your brains FDMB! ;-) ~O)

I never noticed the smell of our Fancy Feast but Whiskas I can smell from the next room PEEEEUUUUUUUUU!

Sorry no answer but I will be interested to see other responses.

While most smell like "cat food" to me, EVO 95% meat smells like people food to me - pleasant. Might want to give that a try.

Another option is making your own cat food out of chicken or rabbit or ?.

www.catinfo.org has How-To information.

personally all the brands/flavors have a stink to them @-) , but out of all of them (and we have tried them all) our newest switch is EVO 95% chicken and turkey and that isnt that bad smelling, i wanted to get them a few of the other flavors (duck, venison) but i am not sure id be able to handle those 2 smells being i cant even handle the smell of duck when my family makes it for thanksgiving for the few that do eat it.

I went through dozens of foods with Gabby's stomach cancer, so I feel qualified in telling you what foods were less stinky!

The foods that were 95% meat (Merrick's before grain, and EVO 95% foods) all smelled like people foods, and didn't have that obvious "cat food smell." Nature's Variety Rabbit, and Venison didn't smell bad, but the Lamb did. I think that's just because I don't like the smell of Lamb in general. Merrick's Cowboy Cookout and Surf-n-turf also didn't really seem to smell that much to me.

But I also have to say that you get used to it over time. I never noticed the smell until my boyfriend and I moved in together, and he started complained and had to leave the room when I fed the cats. About 6 months in he got used to it, too, and now he doesn't notice it either.

One thing he did back then to help with the smell of the Fancy Feast when I asked him to feed the cats was that he made sure the food was cold from the fridge before he opened it. I like to microwave their food so that it's lukewarm, but they survived just fine eating cold food.

I feed different cats Wellness chicken or turkey and Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie. None of them seems smelly to me. The Wellness chicken seems almost odorless. But different people can smell (and taste) different things, so YMMV.

Well. Just brought home some EVO chicken and turkey and put out a heaping table spoon for the cats.

My civie, Mishka, dove right in and licked the bowl clean. So at least one of the two cats in the house approves.

If I'm lucky, maybe this will agree with their tummy more and we can minimize the runny poos.

And if it's less smelly for DH, everyone is a winner!

the wellness brand doesn't smell too bad to me. I also have had difficulty with the smell of wet cat food since we leave extra out in some water for Ali. I purchased a stand alone air filter and placed it in the corner of the room where her food is. I leave it running and it filters the air and the smell pretty well. Also have a glade plug in in the same room to help counter act the smell. Petco also sells a odor eliminator bag (I don't know what it has in it) but it supposedly works really well. I was thinking of purchasing it for the litterbox room. It might help for food smells?

 my mom is the same way.. she complains constantly about the smell (thankfully she does not live with me though) I thought she was just being dramatic because it does not bother me at all  now I know others are out there like her (your husband) good luck!
