Slowly Dropping Dose

When I saw the vet (that sounds funny...not Poopy seeing the vet but me seeing the vet! :lol: ) he mentioned he'd like to see me continue decreasing Poopy's dose to see what would happen. As I mentioned, he was amazed at how Poopy's numbers stay in the same ranges regardless of dose. :smile: Of course, it would mean if I still HAD ProZinc to do it! ohmygod_smile

I may drop the dose to .6 tonight...solely for the reason of trying to make it to at least Friday night before changing insulins. I'm not sure I have enough to stretch that far...and really don't want to leave Poop when I switch. I believe I have enough for two or three more .8 doses. If I cut back to .6, maybe I'll have the four I need. nailbite_smile

Great news...I have to work this weekend and I will be able to take Poop with me! Can't do it during the week but the weekend is fine. :smile:

Doi! Yes, I did read the shoot low to stay low stuff...and I have seen the phenomenon of the dropping BGs when dose or insulin change is mentioned. Funny cats.
 
PMPS 267, not the greatest but not as high as I feared. I know I have enough for 1 and maybe 2 more shots at .6. Picked up Poopy's Lantus today so am ready to go...hopefully Saturday morning. Have chicken chunks ready to thaw for all the extra pokies. :smile:
 
Teresa - you will do fine. The 1st shot of Lantus was the worse for me. I did not know how Jean Luc would react. Sending positive anxiety free vines your way.

I will admit I am nervous, but not near as nervous as I was when I found FDMB and everything was so new and scary! I am also a bit excited, and a touch hopeful.

The vet has mentioned changing Poopy before but the ProZinc was doing it's job, etc. so we didn't switch. With the wackiness of Poopy's BGs and the shortage of ProZinc, it just makes sense now is the time to try something different. "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity" keeps popping into my head. :smile:

I will have to come by PZIville to visit and check on all the fuzzies and beans. Y'all are family, you know. :YMHUG:
 
AMPS 272, shot .6 and have enough for one more shot at .6. What a ride it has been! I am so glad Poopy wasn't coming in on BGs off the chart. The little stinker probably knows and, for once, is cooperating! :lol:
 
Wow. You are changing insulins? I'm saddened to see you leave PZI but really hopeful the change is just what the Poopster needs. Now I really have to pop over to Lantus land to see how everyone is doing.
 
I hope so, too, Lisa. Something has got to give with Poopy's numbers and I'm hoping this will help. Heck, he's always thought of himself as half human so maybe the human insulin will do the trick! ohmygod_smile
