I finally got the slippery elm bark capsules for Hardey (40mg capsules). I figure I'll try mixing it in with his food (at hours when I'm not giving him the appetite stimulant since the SEB can cause absorbtion issues). My question is how much should I give? Hardey is at about 17 1/2 pounds. I have been reading a few member posts from previous condos, but not sure how much is enough, but not too much. Any suggestions?

Hi there:) I don't know if you found your answer anywhere, but I give 1 capsule (350mg) a day (half a cap twice a day). Are you giving it for CRF/CKD, nausea, poo problems? I see on Hardeys profile it mentions kidney problems, my kitty has CRF and I got the dosage from Tanyas CRF site on this page of her site: http://www.felinecrf.org/holistic_treatments.htm Hopefully it will help you if that is what you are using it for :-D

Thanks for the help. I am actually hoping it will help with nausea since he is on a appetite stimulant and keeps refusing flavors of food he likes one day and won't touch the next. He also has had kidney and liver problems in the past. I think the slippery elm bark is supposed to help for all (not to mention loose stools). I checked out the website you suggested. Very helpful. :)

I love Tanyas site, many of us on here use it for info for our kidney kitties. I was lucky that my cat Chyna was ok eating the SEB sprinkled and mixed in a tsp of her food mixed with a bit of water, I've heard some kitties turn up their nose so their beans have to become more creative  The SEB seemed to improve her appy and I used it for months for the nausea which improved her appetite before I had to add the Pepcid AC for her excess stomach acid from the CKD. Good luck, I hope it helps :-D .
