Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

he's in Bethel right now. my SIL lives in Danbury and can pull him and hold him for someone. the vet's office did not mention FIV or FeLV, so i would assume he is ok.

thx

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

The owner is going into a nursing home. Owner's sister is, unhappily, taking Skipper in to have him put down because she leaves town tomorrow and cannot take him with her. Skipper's appt is for 10am tomorrow (Thursday). The vet's office that is scheduled to perform the PTS does not know the cat, the owner, or the owner's sister; the final appt would be the first appt. The folks in the vet's office took it upon themselves to try to find a different solution for Skipper, and now feel overwhelmed with the attention that the situation is getting. So please, address all inquiries to Sara, Jennifer, or me (Venita).

The vet's office is going to call the owner's sister to see whether she will call me so that I can get more info about Skipper. All we know so far is a basic physical description, name, and that he is on 14U insulin (type unknown) BID.

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

Any news of someone able to take him?
Is there a way for someone out of state to get him?

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

So sad, I often wonder what will happen to my cats if anything happens to me. I have no family so that wouldn't be an option. All my cats would not have had homes or a chance to live if I wouldn't have taken them in but it is so sad when something like this happens. Right now I have the kind of friends that they would find homes for them but as I get older who knows. All my friends are old in the late 60s early 70s to mid 70s. Good chance at 47 I will out live them. . .

I really hope that something good happens for kitty. It would be so sad not only for the cat but for the person. To go to a nursing home and to know your cat was put down because of it . . .

here is praying someone steps in. . .

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

I hope so much, that someone can help Skipper.

DCIN is saving Skipper

Pending a negative FIV/FeLV test and a positive eyes-on by someone local, Skipper will board at a CT vet for a few days and then travel down to Uncle Don in VA.

We still need to find Skipper a permanent home, and if someone in the New England, NY, Mid-Atlantic area would adopt him in the next 2 days, that would make this process so much easier. Photos pending (we hope). We also are collecting his medical records, but so far everything (except diabetes) looks good. He is up to date with vaccinations (this March).

Thanks all for caring. The sister is so relieved that someone is taking Skipper. She is paying for his snap test and his medical boarding for two days. After that, it is up to DCIN and its supporters, so lets get this rescue train moving!! ~v

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

Such Good news this morning!

Yay for Skipper and all the good people that are making this happen!

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

Happy, happy news !

So glad the sister is letting us help Skipper.

And, Don...what would we do without you?

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

Nevermind. The vet that was scheduled to euthanize Skipper refused to board him and asked the sister to take him to his regular vet for boarding. The sister decided to go no further with Skipper, and he is gone. Fly free, dear Skipper. Many love you and light candles, even if just in their minds, to guide your way. Tears.

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

So sad.

I can't even believe this.

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

This news is heart breaking. So many whys?! I cannot express my disappointment in people regarding animals. Except when it comes to this group here.

Group hug :YMHUG: right now. I'm sure we're all in tears for Skipper. Those with GAs, let them know he's flying to them. wings_cat

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

Vicky, I'm in tears too. I had just asked Tucker to find Skipper and tell him how much we cared and to share our love with him. I know my little man will be there to greet him.

Re: diabetci in need of home ASAP in CT

Just tears here

Fly Free Skipper, you were more loved than you will ever know by people who never even got to see your sweet face.

Candles are lit to guide you on your way....This is just incredible unfair.

Onyx and Muse will be watching for you to arrive...along with so many other GAs here.

Mel, Maxwell and The Fur Gang

My Maxwell will be there. And Max will channel my love to Skipper.

Vicky, I needed and feel the group hug.

Fly free, dear boy. wings_cat

and some people still wonder why i think so little of people. ugh! absolutely disgusting excuses for human beings some people are. i can't help but want to scream the word on the tip of my tongue but i won't. Poor Skipper. murdered because a couple people suck! Fly free Skipper. and please do come back and haunt that lady and that vet. please. (((Skipper)))

I do not understand the sister's reasoning when she knew a home would be found for him. So sad, so young, and no health problems except for diabetes. God bless him......he so didn't deserve this and my thoughts on that sister cannot be printed.

SHAME ON HER! ETRA SHAME ON HIM, THE VET! I'd love the name of said vet and a mailing list of his clients! They would sure hear an earful from me!

Yes, fly free poor Skipper, you were much loved by many, it is so unfair .... and yes, bad people BUT good and wonderful people waiting to take him into their loving arms and now he will forever snuggle there. My GAs will also be guiding him, for they will always be snuggling in my heart.
SO UNFAIR!!!!

Nancy and Payne .....

I hate (most) humans. Most of them are so stupid! I'm mad.

God Bless you, Skipper. Fly Free, healthy and happy. Much love and tears.
Hugs to all that wanted the best for him.

I would like the vets name also. If it is made public perhaps the vet wouldn't be such a )(&#$#()$&.

Aren't vets suppose to be vets because the care? Sounds like this one is just in it for the money. . . he really doesn't need to be a vet anymore. . . .

Someone should remind that vet of his oath. >>

Yes they should but I doubt there would be to many people that would take him on . .

How terribly, terribly cruel and heartless of everyone involved in the death of Skipper. I hope they don't have another restful sleep. So many hearts just pulling for Skipper and waiting to help him. So very unfair and unnecessary. I can not even believe this. Skipper, rest in peace. May your murderers NOT.
