Hello again,
Got Boot's picture up. And the vet says her test results showed no sign of the diabetes because the BS's have been in control for so long. She is on 1/2 a unit
of Lantus twice daily and eats Evo- chicken/turkey. I am so proud of this site and the help it gives and teaches.

Today the vet recommended a antihistamine:Zyrtec (Cetirizine) for Boot's Miliary Dermatitis.
Is anyone familar with this skin disorder with cats? Little red bumps on the skin. What product or meds. have helped?

My car Bailey had it but it was the result of a food allergy so we just stopped feeding that food and it gradually went away. Do you know if there is a cause you could address? Typical causes are below.

Flea bite hypersensitivity this is the most common cause of feline miliary dermatitis
Allergies; food intolerance, inhalant allergy, food allergy
Bacterial infections
Mites
Mange
Ringworm
Yeast infections
Immune mediated diseases
Drug hypersensitivity
Poor diet
Hormonal/endocrine disorder

If you are using plastic bowls, try using metal, glass or ceramic bowls.

All her test result came up normal. no flees. She eats Evo/turkey/chicken. never bothered her before.
I'm alway prone to think it's diet too. Only med. she's on is Lantus. On line I read some complaints about Lantus
causing it in their cats. Her BS pretty much stay at 70 w/1/2 a unit twice a day. Really don't wanna mess
with her insulin. could go back to raw and making the food. Better for them, but I've gotten lazy. Does
anyone know if the powdered supplement you can add to the meat still available?

A cat can develop an allergy to something at any time in their lives. They could eat the same food for years and develop an allergy at some point. My Boo had really bad allergies. I tried the food trials and that didn't work. He almost went into liver failure from depo. Many cats with lesions from allergies will develop secondary bacterial infections. Sometimes a round of clavamox would clear up his skin. We ended up seeing a veterinary dermatologist. He was on allergy shots once a week for years and it really helped him. His skin was never 100% but a dramatic improvement. He had something called eosinophilic granuloma complex. When I first adopted him he had the rodent ulcers in his mouth. They ended up healing but than he got the eosinophilic plaques. I tried so many different things in the beginning and nothing worked. When his liver enzymes were elevated after a depo shot that is when I finally went to the dermatologist. I even went to a homeopathic vet.

Wow, you went through a lot. I just found the the raw food pre-mix. Not easy to find.

Think I'll try a round of the food. Vet put Boots on a antihistamine. That might help her feel more comfortable,
but doesn't really address the underlying issue. Plus I don't like putting drugs in them if I can avoid it it.

Feed her in glass and drink is ceramic.
