Skin at poked area hardens? Scarring?

Ive been home testing Rosy for 3 mths already. Ive found out that the area where I poked hardens. That's the left ear, the right ear a bit better. Suspect it is the scaring from the constant poking. I did shift poking her left & right ear, warmed her ear before poking & apply pressure after getting blood. The harden skin layer makes it difficult for the blood to come out. Sometimes, blood comes out underneath instead of on the poked side. There is no bruising or infection that I can see.
May I know if there is any remedy for this? Wonder if applying Aloe Vera will helps as it soften the skin.

Hmmm, that is not something I have experienced with either of mine. You are doing all the things I would suggest. Do you alternate locations on the ear as well as actual ears?

Also, are you using a lancing device? Maybe it is hitting the ear too hard. I stopped using it when I tore Beau's ear (he hated the clicking noise and jerked his head at the exact wrong moment). I freehand the lancet - and I only use one brand because all others made Beau's ear feel like shoe leather. I use BD Ultra Fine II 30 gauge. I have tried a half dozen other brands in the same gauge and none of them work as well as these.

Thanks for the reply! Yes I'm alternate poking area along the edge og the ear. I'm poking free handed with a 25g needle. I had tried a thinner needle before but was hard to get the blood to come out. The squeezing & kneading irritates Rosy more. So I've sticked with using the 25g needle head.

Try to apply pressure to the pricked area longer or more pressure. That thelps. But I still notice the same areas on my cat's ears, especially Patches since I have been pricking her for over seven years.

KT has the same hardening and scarring - only his right ear bleeds, his left might as well be a turnip. It doesn't seem to affect our testing altho' if I use the same area in the same day, it does bruise easier. I just hold pressure a bit longer, not tighter, just longer.

HUGS!

Ive applied aloe vera to Rosy's ear edge for over the night. No poking after PM+3 because of her bounceing  This morning, the harden part seems to hvve soften a bit. I'll do again tonight & see how .
