Hiya

Simba started to have daily diarreha last year, and after a long while he also started to have fresh blood in the diarreha stools.

Chriscleo told me to try and give him cortisone, and now while he have had the daily cortison tablet the diarreha stopped and also no more blood. But now I am out of cortisone and within one day without his tablet, the diarreha has come back. No blood yet in it though.

Is this typical for what you all call IBD or can he have food allergy?

Very thanksome for replies and ideas.

I am not familiar with IBD so I can't comment on that.

What kind of food are you feeding? What type of ingredients are in the food?
Felines can be allegric to soy, milk, gluten, eggs, & beef etc.
With Baxters food allergy his stomach would make gurgling noices, would throw up sometimes right after eating, lost weight & he had a running nose all the time. I stopped feeding beef & it all went away.

Something could be a little dipper then just a food allergy due to the blood in the loose stool.

Have you spoke to your vet more in depth about his symptoms? Finding the cause & just not treating the symptoms?

We've first checked a fecal analysis if he could have worms and parasites but that came back clear this week. So I will schedule him for the vet a bit further on when I have the money for the visit.

I know it takes money & it's not cheap.

I would look at the ingredients in the food. Are you feeding canned? Are you adding water to his food.
I'm not sure that its just a food allergy because of the blood.
Baxter has had blood I his stool, but he was constipated. The vet checked him & he was clear.

Hopefully someone will log on today with more experience & be able to help you.

Good Luck & keep us updated!
