Okay, so definitely wasn't a fur shot. Definitely should have gone with the smaller shot. looking at his earlier numbers, probably should have figured that he would drop 100 pts like a stone. He's already eating. Thank goodness HE'S on top of things! OMG! nailbite_smile

PMPS - 201 .4u
+2 - 109!!

Posted on your other thread too. Copy off the hypo info. If he gets into the 40-50 range, post on Health for help. Remember to give small amounts of low carb first. If he dips into the 40s, give some bites of higher carb. (test every 20 minutes). If he continues to drop, break out the syrup.

109 gives you some room. Use the food to keep him up - just be sure you don't give him so much food that he won't want to eat.

Carl is our night owl but I haven't seen him online. I'll send a pm and see if he can watch out for you.

Thanks Sue! Sadly this has become a very familiar neighborhood. HypoTown. These days, Simba has gotten really good at his visual clues. I have the gravy food at the ready. And a pot of strong coffee. I'll keep posting his numbers.

Hi Mary!

I'm watching a couple of other kitties that are having "fun" nights, and Sue asked me to drop by and take a look, so here I am.

did you feed him at +2? If not, you can give him a spoonful of low-carb food and that might slow things down before they get really exciting.

Carl

Hello! Yes, he ate low carb FF beef at +2. I have the high carb waiting in the wings in case.

+2 - 109!!
+2.5 - 73

OK. I think I'd test at +3 and see if the drop has stopped. If not, crack open the higher carb food but post the number before feeding, and I'll be looking for it!

Re: Simba - +2 109/+3 111

PMPS - 201 .4u
+2 - 109!! - ate FF beef
+2.5 - 73
+3 - 111 / purring and annoyed with me and my kitty ear fetish.

OK, so it looks like it took an hour for the +2 food to show up on the meter. That's good knowledge to file away for later.

Looks good to me, Mary!

Mary, these numbers look good to me. After the drop to 73, I was expecting Simba to go lower. Usually they don't drop that much that early in the cycle. It looks like you put the brakes on it by feeding when you did, and that's good. Nothing's every "certain" but I don't think you'll be needing the high carb stuff tonight.

Carl

He's currently up to 158 @ +4.

This has been my dilemma. Small shot = super early plummet. Large shot = carryover to next day. Trying to find the happy medium has proven to be tricky. It felt like we had it today, and I took a chance that he might handle the same shot, but there you have it. Conundrum Cat strikes again!

In a way he did fabulous, considering he dropped at the same ratio he did with a higher pre-shot. Food slowed him down earlier today too and he surfed the blues. Tonight he ate a little more, so if he does the same thing he did earlier today, the food spike will wear off by +6. But he's never been one to be predictible.

Thanks for looking out for us!

If you're going to be up for +6. and he drops by then, you could feed him a snack which should stop a drop later, and you should be good till tomorrow morning.

Carl

Glad he did okay, Mary. Maybe we can brainstorm how you can use food to soften that early drop and have him surf like he did yesterday. It is lovely for his pancreas to surf along in those numbers below the renal threshold.

How much did he eat at +2 last night?
You should find a way to put that 73 you got @ +2.5 last night into his SS so everyone can see he went that low. For future reference.
