I try to make them eat healthier wet foods..and they just won't have it. They LOVED Friskies food in gravy. According to Binky's page, none of them are over 20% carbs.. and they're healthy, non-sugarcat kitties. I won't be hurting them in the long run by feeding them the wet food they'll actually eat, will I?

I'm so paranoid because I feel insanely guilty for feeding Chloe dry Deli Cat food for her whole life. And Linus' new thing is this weird rash on his neck. We saw the vet about it 2 weeks ago, were given an ointment and prednisone, an it started to heal. He said it could have been an allergic reaction or bacteria of some kind. He's healed well, and now it's like an inch away from the original spot. He's lost all hair there and it looks raw and reddish pink. My poor boy... sigh. Any ideas? He had his full dose of meds and I put the ointment on. He licked most of it off after I put it on, but at least it was on for a minute or two.

Now HE goes back to the vet on Saturday. Everyone who works there knows me... sigh.

I think any wet food is better than dry. So, initially I would give them what they will eat and just start mixing in small amounts of what you want them to eat. Increase the amount of the healthy stuff slowly, like maybe weekly. If they are healthy, there is no need to rush them.

Most any wet food is better than dry, so even if it is not the best one available, at least it is a start. Mixing the better food in slowly is a good idea, because it may be the texture as well as the taste the need to adjust to.

Try adding tuna juice to the wet, it worked for my civvie cat

As far as his licking off his meds, have you considered trying an E-collar? I know most cats don't like them, but it may help to keep the meds on for more than a few minutes.

Good luck
Terri
