Hello all,

Tribby had her first vitamin b12 shot yesterday. I was supplementing with a slow release pill but thought the injection would be more effective.

Since then her Diarhhea has turned a grey ish color. (yup, still there) and she seems tired. She's also not eating as much as normal. Still enough and I'm also giving her sub w fluids daily as well.

Another thing...strangely she hasn't needed insulin since before her injection on Friday. I'm still checking her BGL and they are normal.

Thoughts? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks again.

Cass and Tribby.

I give two of my cats weekly cyanocobalamin B12 shots. I have not noticed any changes in feces or in insulin neds for the one diabetic cat that gets the shot.

Grey poop can mean problems with the liver, gallbladder or pancreas

I've given B12 to cats and many do. I've never heard of any negative reactions. Why are you giving it btw? Any known health issues. I don't see a spreadsheet. What are tge recent BG numbers? Any recent food changes? Ever had pancreatitis? That can cause gray stool as mentioned but sometimes food changes can too temporarily.

Regular B12 injections for my cat always help him feel better. We've never had a reaction like you describe. Perhaps it's time to consider a visit to the vet??

Cass, how are you and Tribby doing? :)
Awe thanks for asking! :) Just finished giving sub q fluids. She really doesn't mind! Must help her.
Tribby seems ok. Still having diarrhea but its not grey anymore thank goodness. After 3 days of not needing insulin -post b12 injection- she had some this am. Just under 1u.
I'd love to get this diarrhea issue under control but as long as she's comfortable that's ok.
In other news my other cat Pisew was just diagnosed with osteosarcoma. We are just watching for signs of pain etc. it's a really aggressive type and spread quite quickly. :(
Doesn't it suck when our pets get older? I never feel like I'm ready for it.

Glad to hear Tribby is doing all right and the diarrhea is not grey anymore but sorry to hear he's still got it.:(

I'm so sorry you have another sick kitty! That's really tough! :bighug: We are never ready to let them go and they are never with us long enough! I have a 19yr. old I'm watching age faster and faster lately and I know my time with him is limited but I am going to use what time I have left with him to spoil him rotten. I cook more for him than I do for myself and he even gets steak on occasion! Spoil Pisew, keep any pain under control and enjoy the time you have left. Take lots of pics, record purring if Pisew purrs so you will have some wonderful memories!:)

Do keep us posted on how Tribby is doing. :D
