Vegetable (GA)

Vegetable isn't feeling so good today. She won't eat & she just seems off, she vomitted around her +4.5. I think she's been a bit constipated so I'm putting some miralax in her food.

Hubby & I are travelling & on our way home with veg. I'm going to stop & grab a syringe so I can force feed veg if necessary.

I gave her a quarter of a tablet of Zantac about 3 hours ago now & it seemed to have perked her up a bit. I tried to give her a different flavour of food but she still won't eat. Drinking water is ok & not huge amounts.

Is there anywhere I can pick up some florti flora in a pet store? I'm in Washington state heading up towards Seattle.

I gave veg .25F of lantus this morning & her +5 was 229 which was higher then her amps of 196. Veg is on lantus & I just picked up a relion prime meter a couple weeks ago. I haven't had a chance to update her spreadsheet in awhile, wifi has been hard to come by. I'm sitting out front of a Starbucks posting this right now.

How often can I give the Zantac? What is the dosing info for metoclopramide & can that help with a possible upset tummy?

I'll check in later when I find wifi again.

Sorry Veg is not well. I'm on a laptop and some keys don't work. Bear with ...

Constipationcan cause vomiting.

Usual dose of ranitidine is 1/8 tab, so you are already over. I wouldnt give moreuntil you figure out whats up. Ranitidine can be given 2x day.

Merck Vet manual suggests 1–2 mg/kg, PO, bid

Tis is what felinecrf.org as to say:

    • The usual dose is 0.25 to 1.00 mg per pound (0.5 - 2.00 mg per kg) every 8-12 hours, though most people find twice a day is fine.
    • You therefore would give a 10lb (4.5kg) cat 2.5 - 10 mg twice a day.
    • The standard size pill is 75mg, so for a 10 lb (4.5kg) cat who is getting the higher dose, it is usually easiest simply to give an eighth of a tablet twice a day (i.e. 9.375 mg, or a little under 10 mg).
    • Some people give up to twice this amount, but as with famotidine, I suggest starting low and increasing the dose if necessary since ranitidine is also excreted by the kidneys. Be guided by your vet.

Thank you for the info. I only gave veg a quarter tablet of Zantac to see if that helps. It seemed to perk her up a tiny bit. Now the problem is she won't eat at all :(
