I’ll try to make this super short.
Fluffy, my 13 yr diabetic, off the juice for a bit over a year. Since March we have been fighting this terrible issues with her ear. First an infection, then it was a polyp. Then polyp removed, ear drum damage, continues ear infection, and so on. Treatment were washed with trizedta ottic, keto ultra, baytril, then we went into orbax (oral medication) and washes at the same time, etc etc. it would go away and return with a vengeance. We have seen 3 vets. Been to the vet 10 times.
currently we are doing a treatment of oral antibiotics and zymox ottic plus, for 6 weeks (we are on week 3), because this last “return” I though she wouldn’t make it. The base of her ear is hot and inflamed, he ear has gotten better since we started treatment, like the inflamation has gone down 50 percent.
Now, during this las 3 weeks she has lost a half a Pound, tested her blood with my human meter and after a 10 hour fast her number was 148. ( I didn’t do a 12 hour because she was hungry and all the other kids were eating).

Questions: 1- if you had any issue with ear issues like this, any advice?
Question 2: should I contact the vet and ask for her to be back on insulin? Would this help her heal her ear condition? Do these number indicate that she should go back on insulin?
Any help or advice would be incredibly appreciated.

Poor Fluffy! She sure has been through it. You too! I dont know if a course of insulin will help heal her ear. I would just keep monitoring her numbers. If they continue to rise then think about insulin.
But I am NO expert hold on for more replies.
good luck!
Sending prayers for you both.

I would get a few tests in over the next couple of days to see what the BG is doing. Get some fasting tests in and also get some 3 hours after food to see if she is managing to bring the BG down herself after food. Update the SS so we can see.
Hopefully they will go down as the infection is being treated.
