Should I skip a dose or dose early?

So Tobby is down to .5 units twice a day, and the at home and vet tests all have him still low, yippee. We made the diet change and the goal is to get him off the juice. The issue is we have an event tonight where we have to leave at 3:45.. Tobby usually gets his food and shot at 6PM. When I asked the vet she said just give him food and insulin early. I've been thinking about this and he is on Lantus, which is long lasting, so i'm not sure giving it to him 2+ hours before it might have peaked is such a good idea. I'm thinking of feeding him early and then just skipping his evening dose tonight. He is on a 100% card free diet.

Any thoughts?

I called the vet and they said skip it, so i'm going to do two mini meals, one before we leave and one when we get back. We are try to get him to lose weight too. On Monday the vet had him at 99 an hour before his shot. The time before that he was at 102 at the vet and they dropped him down to .5 a unit. She recommended we do the fructosamine test next time he is in. I think he is too low most of the time. I feel better with the skipping then dosing early that is for sure!

What food is he getting? brand and type? and what weight is he? If we know that we can advise how much to feed to help him lose weight.

It will be interesting to see how his numbers are when you get home given you are skipping the insulin. If he stays 50-130 for 14 days (no insulin) then he is in remission.
