? Should I shoot, 135 at 1.75

I would post at your AMPS test. Do NOT feed Pax. See if his numbers are rising (e.g., at around 150). If so, you should be fine to shoot providing that you can monitor and have extra strips and HC food on hand. I can't stick around -- I'm at work. I'm hoping someone with experience will stop by and can hang with you.

Hi did you shoot?

ETA
I see from the ss that you shot and got a +1.
Are you able to monitor today, with the +1 being a bit lower than PS it looks that this may well turn out to be an active cycle.

He is at 166. I will wait another 15 minutes to see if there are any other responses.
Yes, I did at 1.75. I tested about 30 minutes ago (+1) and he was at 155. I will again at +2 before I leave for work.
He is on an automatic feeder that feeds 3oz wet food 4 times a day (he is a large breed cat). He is getting feed now and will again in 5 hours. I am thinking about leaving food out for him as well in case he eats it all early.

He does tend to over eat so I am nervous about leaving an extra can of food out, but it is better than him going too low.

With that +1 being lower it does look like the cycle will be active.

If the +2 is still dropping, you might want to feed something then, if he has dropped significantly perhaps something in the higher low carb region, and then have the autofeeder give him more food later.

When they drop early it's sometimes necessary to feed the earlier part of the cycle rather than wait until the +5. If you do that it often helps to flatten them out.

If he tends to eat everything in one sitting, perhaps having the feeder set up so he get's some food dispensed at +3 and +4 as well at least for today so that he can stay safe.

I understand the problem with overeating, my guy loves his food, he's sat on the coffee table at the moment staring at me, trying to communicate telepathically, his dinner isn't due for another hour.
But for today with having to go into work and the way his numbers appear to be heading try not to worry too much about that.

Thank you so much for the encouragement and advice!!! He ate 1/4 can of food and is still sitting at 155 exactly. I will leave out a bit more food in case. We have been playing all morning (working on getting his weight down another 2 lbs) and now he is sleeping and still has 3/4ths of his lunch left. I will be back in 9.5 hours to check again and give a shot for the evening.

It's good he hasn't dropped further, would suggest an active cycle but perhaps not a crazy one.

I do think it is wise to leave a little extra food out for him just in case.
