Hello Magellan's sugars are running 165 pre shot, should I give a shot or not? his normal shot is 1 unit I dont want to drop him and his sugars have been real good lately.

I think I would cut that in half, to 0.5 units of Novolin. One unit may drop him as much as 150 mg/dL and we want him to stay safely above 50 mg/dL on a human glucometer or 68 mg/dL on a pet glucometer.

And he's getting over the bladder infection which is also dropping his glucose.

Just did another test and he is 134

Looks like he is surfing safely for you, dropping about 10 mg/dL in per hour.

Yes it does and I am so excited, my only concern is that he is not eating any where as much as he used to. He used to be a real chow hound, I know he is eating as it would show with his sugars but how can I tell if he is getting enough?

At least 1 reason he isn't eating so much is that the insulin is allowing him to use the calories he consumes, which is fantastic.
