Hope you are feeling better, Cindy. Imagine the stress of the last few weeks wasn't helpful. I hope, now that you are testing and feel comfortable with it and the shots, you can relax a little. Early on in my sugar dance, someone wise once told me to remember to breathe, deeply and often. Always thought it was good advice.

Start my way back to the pain free world. I'm starting the "Brain Jello" phase those who have headaches know what i mean. Gb 381 this morning , I'm home again to I'll try to test more today. I had an appt to take George to get his blood work done ... but Hubby said no because I lost 2 days of pay , uhggg.

thank you so ouch for the love ... Have a great DAy :cat:

This has happened to ALL of us. He'll be fine. Hugs.:bighug: And congrats on your new vet who is willing to let you test at home and feed him low-carb!! That's great news. :)

Congratulations on finding a vet that will work with you. Those are hard to find.

And, most people have been in your shoes, not only financially, but trying to find a vet that will work with you, and missing a shot on occasion. It happens.

490 to 278 in 2 hours is a mighty dive. He might bounce from that.

I am glad you are feeling better. :bighug:

if Some one gets a chance ... if someone could look at Greorges gb numbers he is really sleepy all day . isn't eating much, just nibbles. is this his organs quiting on me ... I screwed him up by my headache and not keeping on task didn't i.

thank you again ... he picked up still isn't eating much but he did want to go out side :) My hubby keeps telling me is isn't going to last much longer sorry for freaking

He certainly is in safe levels midcycle which is great. It does look like he either bounces back up or the insulin isn't lasting long enough.

You are doing everything right, Cindy Lou. Your job is to keep him safe while his body adjusts to the diet and the insulin. You are doing that. Once you learned how to test, you made a huge step in his treatment. Now to be patient, keep collecting data and Breathe!

Don't beat yourself up, Cindy, you haven't done anything wrong. You're testing him, you're learning how to handle treating him, and you're doing just fine. As Sue said, breathe!

As long as he ate a TBSP of food. Perhaps when that higher number comes down he will feel like eating more. He had a nice lower number yesterday which probably explains today's high AMPS. You are doing great Cindy Lou. :bighug: Could you try to get a mid-cycle number during the PM cycle? It can help give some more data which can be helpful with dosing.

I'm ok with that url giberish? ..lol is there someones spreadsheet that I can look at ? maybe that would help me understand a little better.

haven't been able to wake up and take Georges Gb at night. Once I'm out I'm out ,, ZZZZZzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzz My son says George was dry heaving early this morning ? any thing I should be concerned about?

Has it continued? Has he eaten anything since the am? Did he sure get food before the shot?

With his being in high numbers, are you getting regular ketone tests?

How is the diet change coming?

Does he occasionally vomit or have dry heaves, as a rule? Squallie NEVER does, unless something is up, so it's easy to tell, with him. One of my civvies is a little bit of a "puker" so I don't worry as much when he does it, unless it doesn't stop after a little while.

Has it continued? it only happens in the Early 2-4 am, be for I get up. \he was a "puker" before he was diagnosed... He would eat so fast then puke it up .
Has he eaten anything since the am? Had his shot at 6:30 am. ate very little, but when I got home at 4pm he nibbled a bit more gb# 325 ( that was pretty good for +10hrs) Then fed him his meal seemed more hungry then?

Did he sure get food before the shot? I make sure to feed before ... usually he is nibbling while I shoot him

With his being in high numbers, are you getting regular ketone tests? I'm not quite sure how to get them ? he doesn't pee on demand .. what will they tell you ?

ok! I give him 1/2 can of Friskies and enough to crunch of the dry Acana he eats a bit gets his shot, then sleeps (like cats do ) in his favorite spot. then gets up nibbles here and there.

Just wondering? ( hope you don't mind the color print and larger print... I can read it better )

Hi Cindy. George is so adorable, I just want to reach through the screen and hug him, lol!

Since he is on Novolin, which can be a little harsh, it's a good idea to wait 20 minutes or so after he eats to give him his insulin. This helps assure that he's got some food in his tummy when he hits that first steep drop in BG. :):):)

How is George today, Cindy? I hope he is starting to get used to the routine.:cat:

Pretty good Day! I'm having some trouble getting into my spread sheet.... I was creating a calendar for work and organizing a few things on Google . Now I cant get write my Gb's in .... the last two times I had a 368 and 392 12 hours apart, he was actually playful and talkative .. :)

Got it Figured out

Congratulations on being in the blues!!! That certainly seems like a step in the right direction! I would encourage you to try and get a few more tests in throughout the day, when you can, so we have more information to work with. :cat: I see you don't have a PMPS number for George tonight; it's important to make sure you get the pre-shot tests in, especially when you're using a shorter-acting insulin, like you and I do. :):):)

Mr George is fighting me so much in getting GB's so I've been trying to get different times of the day when I am home. He likes the Ear rubs and the treats ,,, but he is so focused on the food that he fights the pokes ...

okay, I have a delema, We are going to the Packer Game on Thanks Giving . Normally George gets his shot 6:30 am and pm. we are leaving at noon for the game and won't get home till 1 am I don't have a back up since it's turkey. what would be the best way to handle a missed shot ?

If you have to miss a shot once in a while, it's okay, it happens to all of us sometimes. Just start the next day with the same dose you've been using (don't forget to test first). :)

well it's the second day at a the next dose 4.5u and his Gb started to go down and then went right back up.... I am assuming that it takes a few days before it really lets me know if it is working ,,,, I saw in a previous post that someone ask if i could shoot every 8 hours . is that something I should consider? How many units would I use. if I did that?
any suggestions he's down 2.8 lbs from his original weight. Any thoughts out there?
