As Copernicus continues to lose weight, I have noticed sometimes when i inject he reacts like it hurts, Other times it goes in like butter. Could it be my technique? Does it mean it’s going IM? Other? Thank you.
I am aware of the bezel, and he didn’t react in the beginning, just started to. Not everytime though I stay away from the scruff (because fluids) and he is getting thinner so maybe i am hitting nerves or some thing .Are you noticing him reacting when the needle goes in? If so, are you being careful to turn the syringe needle bevel side up?
Or does he react when the insulin goes in? If so, this can sometimes happen because there is a substance in the insulin that can cause a little sting as it goes in. Jude responds to the insulin this way frequently.
Maybe the alternate locations are more painful with his reduced weight. For what it’s worth, I did fluids long term in the scruff and also gave insulin shots in the scruff (just made sure to use different sides of the scruff and also didn’t give subQ at the same time as the insulin shot). Rarely elicited pain when I gave insulin in the scruff.I stay away from the scruff (because fluids)
