I was wondering if anyone has had this happen.
I've been giving Moeby his shots for a little bit now, morning and night. Tonight though I went to give him his shot and I thought I got it in his skin, but maybe I had pulled it out when I pushed the plunger. I found a bead of liquid on his back behind where I give him his shots in the tent of his scruff. My finger felt wet too. I'm not confident it went into him, but I'm also not confident it go in some. I am nervous to give him another dose, but I worry what will happen if he didn't get any at all till his next shot in the morning. Its so disappointed because his numbers dropped a little bit in the last couple days. I felt like I was starting to see some improvement.

Anyone have any suggestions? Should I wait till his AM shot?

Oh, they joys of the quantum Fur Shot.

Smarter people than I have said:

If you find you're not sure the full amount went in (aka partial or complete "fur shot"), never give more as it may wind up being too much. --BJM

From what I'm coming to understand, it's better to be underdosed for a cycle than hypo for a minute. I'm sure one of those aforementioned smarter people will be around with more information and/or to tell us both that I'm way off-base.

Thank-you Papa Stark :) Thats what I was leaning towards. I felt like a possible over dose and risking hypo would be way worse, and since this is his PM shot, I will be in bed and not see if hes struggling.

Glad Papa Stark responded to you. You've done exactly the right thing in this situation by not giving another shot. :-D

Never re-shoot, even if you're confident it was a "fur shot." We can never be totally certain how much actually did go in. Fur shots are really frustrating, but they happen to all of us. There are members who have been here for years (literally) who still occasionally give fur shots.

Just look at this as a nice opportunity to get a good night's sleep! ;-)

Why you don't give any more insulin -
Hyperglycemia may cause problems in the long term and you've got time to deal with it.
Hypoglycemia can kill quickly and you rarely get a second chance.

Thankyou everyone :) he was high this morning and less high this evening. I appreciate the responses and all the help. I was so worried about missing a shot, but possible two shots felt like a worse decision than missing. Thankyou again. :)

So, I thought things were going to get back to what normal was but his sugar has gone up higher than it has been. He started getting picky about his food. He wont eat his fancy low carb food now. Which he was eating without any problems. He has also dramatically decreased his constant meowing for food. Since his sugar wasnt going very low with his 1.5 dose I increased it to 2. Now I feel like that was a bad idea. :( Im not sure what to do. His bowl is still almost completely full but he keeps checking his siblings bowls. :(
Ive been feeding him wellness grain free, natures instinct, and some friskies too (which is all he will eat now)
this morning on my relion confirm he tested 597 amps. highest its been in weeks. :(
im not sure if I should do 2 units or 1.5 again. before I screwed up his shot he was dropping to 350s.

Lantus takes roughly 3 to 5 days to stabilize when there has been a dose adjustment or a fur shot.
You have to hang in with it.

That said, are you following one of the protocols for Lantus? Those provide guidance on when to increse.
