Hoping for some advice on taking Lila on a short break ( we have been home based since her diagnosis a year ago!). As we do not have anyone to leave her with we are going to take her for a short break. Wondering if a generally she is likely to be less stressed in a smaller in environment like a log cabin or in a more spacious cottage? Just trying to limit stress levels for her hopefully. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts or experiences on taking a cat on holiday. It is not something she is used to. Although she is a burmese and we feel will be fine as long as we are there too.

This summer we had two brief holidays and I dragged Fabby along. I don't have anyone I trust here to be able to monitor her care and since she's not yet regulated, I don't feel comfortable boarding her anywhere just yet.
So Fabby went camping in July. She stayed in the tent, and it was only 2 miles from the house. She did just fine.
Then we went on holiday for 3 days about 400 miles away. Fabby does well on car rides, so she sits on the console and is our navigator. However, she didn't like the place we stayed at all. She hid under the bed the entire time only coming out for food. When I brought her out to meet my dad I the common areas she wanted none of it and ran off and hid behind a couch.
So we stashed her in the room with us and she came out on the bed at night, but she wasn't happy about her accommodations. (We were also downstairs and when people walked on the floor above the coming creaked, which kept her freaked out.)
She also had caught some sickness before the trip and was on antibiotics, which she tolerated well and they fixed her issue, but I don't know if that was a component of not getting comfortable while we were there the 3 days.
So overall, I'd say you kitty with you is going to have better care, and as long add the ride doesn't stress kitty to much, then yes take kitty so care can be consistent. (My vet agreed when I asked this same question.) When you arrive, start with small space for kitty to have a space they can own, and go by their comfort level. You'll know if kitty wants to come out to a bigger space. So either of your options you're looking at should be fine, provided there's a closet or bathroom that kitty can have as their space they own.

I took Neko to Colorado twice, first time 3 days each way in a car, second time by airplane. Feliway sprayed in the carrier and Rescue Remedy drops in the AM before travel helped. She also went to Victoria with us last year. Every time we stayed at hotels, in Colorado it was a suite so a bit bigger. We started by setting up base camp in the bathroom. Feliway spray again. With the car travel, we brought her favourite bed and scratcher so she had some smells of home. With the air travel I brought a flat scratcher. Both times we had her fav toys with us.

Good luck, nothing better than a vacation with your favourite furred one.

Thanks both for replies, will go ahead and book our short break. Hopefully it will go well and if Lila is well enough in the Spring next year will be able to take her away for a bit longer. Also travelling with elderly boxer, but she is a seasoned traveller!

I think that's awesome you are taking her with you!!!! Definitely great suggestions above.
