Chris, thanks for your understanding, patience, and keeping on top of Dee Dee's care!
Yes, I do need help w/spreadsheet --I tried to add the link but got a message saying I didn't have any more room left in my signature (I copied and pasted--obviously wrong). Thanks for asking again.
Re yesterday's tests: 95 in a.m., gave 1 U; 449 p.m., gave 1 U. (she was hungry and ate after that);
99 Before bed.
Today 197 a.m., gave 1 U
Per your advice, for now I won't "shoot under 150 unless someone on Forum can monitor me through the cycle." Not sure if I clearly understood "start low, go slow."
Re wanting food during the night because she's probably getting hypo-- Agree - she does seem "desperate" for food, not the usual mealtime hunger. She keeps meowing urgently in my ear, making sure I wake up and hear her.
Questions: What does OTJ mean?
Should PS test in a.m. be fasting?
Will check out Sticky for more info. After the last 5 years of Dee Dee living with diabetes and being treated by vets who likely lacked adequate expertise, I'm needing to re-evaluate and re-educating myself for her care - going back to square one. I am most grateful to the Board's members who care enough to take the time to research feline diabetes and share their knowledge. I regret that Dee Dee had to suffer more than was necessary. She was on the brink of death because of a vet's incompetence. Maybe cats do have 9 lives.
As mentioned, I'll be 80 next month. Learning a whole new way of caregiving is taking much more time and energy-- of the latter I seem to have less and less. And it takes more time to understand instructions and to carry them out. It's not really different than caregiving a loved relative who is seriously ill. I feel drained a lot, but am aware of taking care of myself, having a life. I sincerely appreciate all the advice and patience the Forum members are extending. At some point, I can learn enough to give back to novice caregivers.
