Hi everyone,

Has anyone shipped insulin before? How did you ship it and what was the cost? Just FYI, I'm in Canada and would like to ship the insulin to another member in Canada.

I bought some from a 3rd party & they used a styrofoam container with ice packs, cost was about $10 (TN-NJ). If you see a heat wave coming, wait until that passes before sending.

I shipped Lantus to DCIN last year. Through an email discussion over the summer (last summer was hot!), we decided to wait until the fall when the weather was cooler. I wrapped the box in newspaper and put it into an insulated dollar store lunch bad along with a small dollar store ice pack. I shipped Canada Post Expre$$ and it was still cool when it got there. (The distance was only 100 km.)

Make sure the insulin doesn't touch the ice packs or it might freeze. Wrap it in something. I used bubble wrap when I sent insulin to someone. I put it in a soft sided cooler with ice packs and put that in a box and padded it.
