Dose increase 4 cycles ago. She was struggling to get back to good numbers after dropping back for two days when I wasn't here.
Last night she finally went down to green numbers. I tested her frequently to try and get her down slowly as diving quickly is one of her main problems. She had quite a food spike and dropped quickly from that....I just hope it hasn't triggered another bounce.
I am sure she feels better in good numbers...she is more alert and active.

I set the alarm and go back to sleep in between tests. Otherwise I wouldn't survive.
Sheba is a fast diver and a bouncer this time around after being a sedate lady the first time she needed insulin, so I have to make sure she comes down slowly otherwise it creates a bounce and that can take three days to get back to good numbers. Even with close monitoring she can outmanoeuvre me. I finished testing at 4.30 am last night.

Do you notice any other effects from the Tramadol? Cats hide their pain so well, it is tricky. Her numbers may be a patience pants situation; I just noticed you just increased. Vines being sent! :bighug:

Ruth.....I haven't noticed any side effects of the Tramadol. It just isn't as good as metacam, which I know no one likes and Sheba is no longer having, but it is an amazingly effective drug. I try really hard to be patient....but I also worry about her being in high numbers so much, given that she now has some kidney damage from the last 18 months of DM.
Marilyn......If I could just control the dives, it would get rid of the bounces I am sure.:banghead::banghead:

Come on Sheba. This is NOT what we had in mind for you today. Think BLUE! Maybe try some mc are+2 to slow her down and keep her from even hitting green for a few cycles? Just a thought to try. I wish you could get buprenex.

I will give the MC at+2 a try......if she is having an active cycle that is a really good idea. The only thing is....if she is on a bounce, it will only send her higher........but it might be worth it in the long run. I actually did give some MC food back early in the cycle a couple of months ago and she did settle down to some lovely greens for several weeks before it all fell apart . Thanks for reminding me Elise!
I have thought about stopping her going into green numbers but haven't gone further with it....that might be another really good idea.
Re the bupe....Sheba has had a couple of loopy days when she was on that so I am not too unhappy I can't use it. Her mobility is still good. She is well over 40 days since stopping the metacam....and after 34 days last time, her mobility was going downhill. This time we have the cartrophen and osteosupport as well. Last night when I was testing her....her auto feeder went off. She couldn't wait to get to it and ran into the lounge. I haven't seen her run like that since Maxie died and they would race throught the house like baby elephants.
Thanks Elise...you have given me some good ideas to try.
 
Well, it sounds like Sheba is doing okay on the Tramadol, so that's great. Love the running for the feeder!

Sheba, get off that trampoline! A kitty could get hurt on one of those things!

I've no idea what the answer is Bron, just sending lots of ant-bounce vines your way to help with the frustration:bighug:. Glad there's nothing wrong with her mobility, or her hearing for that matter!

I hate it when cats get onto the trampoline. Neko seems to have found hers again. :rolleyes: I can so relate on worrying about the kidneys. It's good to see Sheba is spending some time in blues and green though.

Amazing how fast they run to the autofeeder, when moments before that you think they can barely move. :cat:
